Washed and hydrated (free with the service!) with Design Essentials Leave In Conditioner and Blow Drying Lotion. I'm 6 months post texlax

Blow dried with a denman. Portia says the key to straight styling textured hair is all in the blow drying and says the ceramic dryers don't just dry up the water like other dryers. They make the water droplets burst and then they are reabsorbed by the hair for even more moisture.

After trim, I wanted as little gone as possible

The final look with Design Essentials Silk Essential Serum. Portia's tip: Blowdry the hair briefly after applying product so that it is absorbed. It helps prevent reversion on resistant (or untrained hair like mine) and it also helps the hair stay light because it melts in and afterward you can't feel the product on the hair.

I was worried about reverting in the high humidity when I get back home so I asked her to put some more weight on it so she added a little Design Essential Texture Pomade and wrapped my hair while blow drying it in for a second and this was the result

I hope you guys like it! I found about Portia here. She is all about healthy hair care and does not do weaves or relaxers (sorry ladies). She also models and that is a pic of herself that she is holding up. She is 100% natural in both pics! She is a beautiful person in every way and it was really the best salon experience I have ever had.

Wow girl your hair looks GREAT! I didn't expect the length at all, each pic was like a little surprise, lol. Your hair looks very healthy, congrats.

I think it's wonderful that she listened to your instructions and didn't trim more than what you asked for.
Your hair looks great! Really healthy and thick. :yep:

What a great job! Thanks for sharing the whole process with us esp. the tips on drying the hair with heat. I'd love to visit her too, (but Bermuda?? YIKES) Your hair is beautiful though. Congrats on your progess too.

Vkb look at all that hair! I never realized how long it was. And it's so healthy curly and straight! Great job!

Thank you ladies so much for the kind words! This is the longest my hair has ever been and I really have LHCF to thank for that! It felt really great to have a positive salon experience.

That trim sure did make a difference. Even as she was cutting I could see it looking better and even move better. She took the time to really go through my hair to shape it while she trimmed and still preserved my length. She really is a specialist and she is only been doing hair for about 3-4 years I think. She is definitely gifted.

Wow!! Your hair looks great. I'm glad you had a great salon visit. That is exactly the type of stylist I'm looking for. HHG!!

Very pretty!! Love it.

I agree, that trim made a heck of a difference. Congrats on having a great stylist that you can trust and still come out looking on top.

She did a great job.
Your hair came out very pretty.
Will you self texlax since she doesn't do relaxers or are you transitioning?
How do you combat reversion? My hair reverts while I am flat ironing it, I am trying not to give up. lol
