My "Great clips" experience..

So, I needed a trim... like last month, and since I trim based on the lunar calendar I was running out of time.. Im so tired of going to AA stylists who trim more than i request, so I went to great clips...I was greeted by a asian/filapino female, and told her what I wanted.. I continued by telling her of my experience with most AA stylists and trimming.... and she completed my sentence "they cut too much off". My mouth dropped as I was surprised she knew this.. She laughed and said she hears this all the time. I literally almost fell out cuz I was nervous as I was the only AA in there and wasnt sure they could help me..

So any hoo she had me stand in front of the mirror with my back to it and with a mirror she used a comb to gauge how much to clip off. She did exactly what I wanted and I feel so much better, she even typed in my profile for future visits that my hair is to be lightly trimmed as I am trying to grow it out... Just wanted to share my great experience..

That sounds amazing. I once tried to do something like this by going to Hair Cuttery, but apparently I got the white stylist who has a mostly black clientele, and she cut off too much. Wouldn't ya know it.

Good stylists are soo hard to find.. I watched her cut a guys head before me and she did it with such ease and it looked nice.. It was funny to see this guy fuss over the front of his hair... I thought we women were the only ones that did that in the mirror..lol..

Hi Soonergirl..it's always a plus to get what you pay for. I'm happy for you. I had similiar experiences at a Cost Cutters here when I wasn't trimming my hair myself for a while.

Thanks ladies!! didnt really think anybody would care, but i was so surprised.. Its good to know we have other options to have our hair trimmed.. hair is hair...

It's a great feeling when you get exactly what you want and the salon experience is a positive one. Asian? I'm not surprised. They've taken over the black hair industry for a reason....they find out what we want and give it to us.

Yep. She also said to me she doesnt understand why AA stylists chop our hair off when they know how slow our hair tends to grow... Ok why is an asian stylist saying this...cuz its true..whats wrong with us??!! as a side note I know not all AA stylists are like this. There are a lot out there that are great.

I use to go to shop similar to this for hair cuts when I lived in Kentucky. The stylist was also Asian and she always did exactly what I asked. I say keep her around because it's hard to find someone who will do exactly what's good for your hair while growing it out.
