Why do stylist do this to you? I told her I wanted my hair to grow longer and she cut off about 3 to 4 inches!! Saying, now it will grow straight down and better... This happened about 1 and 1/2 months ago and I'm still depressed. I loved this haircut. I wanted my hair to grow long IN THIS STYLE. I'd like to get it back, but I'm just scared. I don't even want anyone to clip my ends in fear that this may happen again. I wish I knew how to clip my own ends for this very reason!!

Well I still think it looks good. It's not a bad haircut IMO but if that's not what you wanted then she was wrong. She was supposed to do what you asked and paid her to do. Sorry that happened to you. It'll be alright. :)

Also there are plenty of ladies here who clip/trim their own ends I'm sure somebody could teach you how to do it yourself.

both cuts r cute to me. ur hair looks really healthy and i'm sure it'll be back b/f long.

but i totally feel u---it's not what u asked for and i'd be mad too.

like bmore said--maybe add some clip on extention in the front if u think u'll like it better.

i like the new cut too and u can do plenty of things with it while it grows out.

Your hair looks healthy in both pictures....which is important. Your hair is gorgeous!!!

Dont worry,as long as you keep up your routine, the length will come.

I really don't understand why she cut so much off. I thought it may have been justified because your ends may have been jacked up, but your hair was beautiful!

Another reason why I don't go to the salon. Everytime I think about going, I get scared and change my mind.

Some stylists are just scissor happy :nono:

Your hair is very pretty so it looks good with either style, but I must admit I love your original cut the most. Is your avatar what your hair looks like from the back now? It looks so full and bouncy.

i actually like the cut....learn how to DIY so you can avoid this problem in the future. But if you still want to keep that shape as it grows longer...you may have to find another stylist who isnt so scissor happy. Male stylists usually are not.

Your hair looks fine in both pictures. Don't be depressed, have heart. Remember, hair always grows back. Just keep taking good care of your hair and don't get it cut again anytime soon.

And if you ever do plan on getting a trim or cut again, make sure your tell the stylist SPECIFICALLY how much to trim or cut off. You can't just say "cut it in a way that it'll grow longer"...that gives the stylist no direction and gives them leeway with what they want to do with your hair instead of what you want. Also let them know if you want a layered cut or a blunt cut next time.

I'm sorry that happened to you.
I'm sure we all can relate.
I think "scissor-happy stylists"
are definately in the top 5 reasons
women can't retain their hair
growth. That's why I'm staying
away from trims for a full year
and I'll probably do it myself.
I really don't trust stylists with
scissors anymore.

So sorry that happened to you. The haircut looks really good on you. I know it feels like a set back but from the ladies on this board you know your hair will grow back in no time. Like others said learn to trim and dust on your own. I do it myself all the time. I havent let anyone cut my hair in years.

It looks like she cut your hair into a style. I don't know why she'd do that if you told her you wanted to grow your hair! :nono:

Hey Girlie,

I am so sorry this happened to you. I really feel your fustration. I would never go back to her again.

Perhaps you can wear your hair in a differnt style, i.e. all of your hair back w/o bangs so your lenght will not be as missed.

While the cut is clearly differnt that what you originally started off with, it does look nice and will grow back.

In time the pain will go away. Its these experiences that make us stronger and more agressive with stylists.

Best

Your hair looks fine. I understand you feeling upset over it, just a few days ago my ends were looking a little messy so I grabed my shears and cut them myself. My ends are so uneven now and I've been upset about it. Sure it's dissapointing but as some one mentioned health is the most important part so as long as your hair is healthy lenght can't be too far behind. I wish you the best of luck and don't worry you'll be back to your previous lenght if not longer in no time.

I like the way it looks. Cute.

But she should not have cut so much! That is why I am afraid to go to the stylist.

Unfortunately, the Avatar is of my old haircut. I mostly wear rollersets now. I can't stand how it looks when it's straight. The haircut is more like a paige boy now instead of a long bob. It's long in some places and short in other places instead of being all one length. It just doesn't fall right. I hate how it looks down. So, my plan is to just wear these rollersets until it grows out to a decent length. I really appreciate you guys support. I guess it will grow back but why she have to do me like that? And I'd love to find out how to clip my own ends.

I think you're right. How is it going with you not getting any trims? My hair does maintain it's length better when I can maintain a good trim, but the only person that can do that is 2 hours away.

That's a big cut! Did she say that your hair was damaged and she would have to take off quite a bit?

No. She said my ends were too heavy and for it to fall correctly she needed to cut off the weight. I loved how thick my neds looked. It doesn't look like that anymore.

This is why I left my last stylist. Even though she kept my hair one length, she cut off a lot more than she should have for a "trim". Also, when I told her I wanted my hair to grow longer she got upset, raised her voice, and yelled "some hair just doesn't get any longer!" She's crazy.

I have bookmarked so many links on how to self-trim. I haven't done it yet, though. I have a pair of shears I use for "search and destroy". My last trim was in February, and my ex-stylist did it.

I know how you feel - it's disheartening whe stylists cut more than is necessary. However, the cut looks really nice.

We're in the same city. I won't even ask who you went to:ohwell: .
It is a cute cut but...it's not what you wanted and that is disheartening.
Your hair will grow back and be even better than what you had before.
Keep your head up!;)

I'll ask. Who did you go to? (so I can stay away)

Fortunately, your hair looks great in both styles, and it will go back.
