Your opinion on moisture retention?

What product has brought you the most or longest moisture retention? Whether it's a technique, hair product, butter or oil, could you give me feed back on what works best for you?

I originally set out to find the most moisture retaining oil but I figured I might as well ask about other methods too.

I do predict frequent co wasing or daily moisturizing & sealing will be popular answers but what about those who are on a low maintenance regimen?

so for me it's not espacially a product, but more a technique
a 3 step technique.
I first moisturize my hair with
1) a water based moisturizer.(glycerin free and oil free)
2) I then apply a leave in (always glycerin free, my fine hair seriously don't like this humectant:nono:, I totally prefer honey or aloe vera)
3)and seal an oil, especially ceramides(sunflower, or safflower)

it leaves my hair soft for 3 days :lick:, but even with that I don't stop moisturizing my hair every, to every other day.

For me, its the Motown Girl leave-in mixture using specifically Taliah Waajid Protective Mist Bodifier. If I use this after washing, my hair stays moisturized for days at a time. Seriously, days!!!!

Motown Girl's Leave-In Conditioner:
1-8 oz. Pump Bottle
2 ounces Leave-In Conditioner (Taliah Waajid)
1 1/2 ounces Distilled Water
1/8 cup oil (avocado, coconut, or olive) (I have also tried using Castor oil and it works just as well)
1 tbs. vegetable glycerin (use in warm humid climates, not cool and cold ones)
1 tbs. Silk Peptide Powder (optional, but will make your hair very soft)
Fragrance Oil for scent (optional)

The climate where I currently live is too cool and cold for veggy glycerin and I don't use the silk peptide powder because it is not easily accessible where I am. This works amazingly!!!!!!

Applying Kimmaytube's Leave-in on wet hair and letting it air dry has been the most moisturizing for me. After this, my hair usually stays feeling cool and soft for days before I need to reapply. I substitute H6O or coconut oil for the jojoba oil in her recipe though.

It doesn't have the same effect if I apply on dry hair, but on wet or damp hair it really seals the moisture in.

My hair isn't too picky when it comes to products, but as far as techniques go, I find that keeping my hair in twists allows me to hold on to moisture for a long time. And when I untwist, my hair is always soft and fluffy.

My regime is very low-maintenance. I would say deep conditioning, air-drying, and covering my hair when I'm at home helps me to retain my hair's moisture.

Mixing hempseed oil into my DC's and moisturizing with an aloe-heavy moisturizer (aloe vera is one of 1st 5 ingredients). This has changed my world!
