That's how you know who is native to Florida, they understand that trying to have a wrap in the summer is a "no no"! I went to college in Tally and those summers were HOT! And it rained every afternoon around 2-4.. The best option for girls are to braid it up or get a short sewin bob.. And that's what I did lol.

Panama City Beach, FL (Northwest Florida). 90%+ humidity starts in April; doesn't let up 'til October. Don't try to straighten my 4CZ hair at all.....

I successfully wore my hair out today! Set this morning and had an AMAZING hair day in the humidity. Serumed my hair down!!!! Added a little Rice Bran Oil and went about my business! Native or not I'm gonna wear my hair out. Got my Design Essentials en route. This is gonna be a :gorgeous: summer.

Wrapping it up and snuggling with my boo while we watch the fireworks from the 35th floor.

I am checking in from Orlando. I just decided last night to start wearing buns. So at night I am baggying & wearing a bun all day. I figure that's the only way to deal with this weather.

I'm from the 850. Native Floridian! :yep: I'm relaxed so frizz is not of concern but it's so great seeing a FL thread. I wouldn't be able to make a down south meetup since I basically live at the tip of Northwest, FL but nonetheless it's still exciting to know that a meetup could potentially happen for you all that live in close proximity.

Okay, I'm flying to Florida Monday to see Mrs. Carter. I plan on wearing my hair straight, at least for the day of the show.

I wore my natural hair straight in Miami before and it was a little frizzy, but that was only because I tried a new product and it pretty much started out frizzy.

Here's my plan:

Henna (slept in it; henna makes my hair heavier, shinier and silkier).
Deep condition (under the dryer now).
Add Sabino and wrap w/silk scarf each night.
Keep my hair pinned up until the night of the show. (My hair looks best a day or two after flat ironing).

I'm praying for the best. I'm not trying to be bunned up and boring at the show.

Good luck!!! Miami humidity ain't no joke. Make sure your hair is serum'd down! Trust me.

Pompous Blue, you're 850 right?

For you ladies that live outside of south Florida, would you consider making a weekend out of a meetup? Like in Sept/Oct?

DominicanBrazilian82, under normal circumstances, I'd say yes. We visit Orlando several times a year but my job scenario has put our personal travel on pause right now. We've been furloughed so we've cut out some of the extras that we can live without until the furlough ends.

I just moved here in Mid-May. I've learned so far that no matter how hard I try, humidity defeats me. I normally keep it curly and bunned up. No point of even flat ironing. Any word on a meet-up?

yay for this thread! Humidity has kicked my butt everyday day living here. The biggest waste of money was when I got my hair professionally blown out and flatiron and IT RAINED 2 MINUTES AFTER I LEFT THE SALON.

I'll be moving to the Orlando area soon. I have a bottle of Sabino humidity blok (original) and a couple cans of humidity blocking oil sheen, I hope they'll help out.

The weather is still pretty here in FL, agreed? I was over in the low porosity thread and they talking temps down in the 40s. I rather humidity than cold weather. (I think)

Luckily we are going into our winter months which means cooler air and little, to no, moisture in the air. I've been wearing my hair down since about two weeks ago with no frizz issues. November, December, January, February, March and most of April is frizz free for me!!! Even when it rains it dries up faster in those cooler months.

Bumping this thread.

Just moved to Orlando area and I would like to know if anyone can recommend a "hood" BSS? There is a Sally near me and Walmart have a decent selection, but there are certain products that I'm sure I'd only find at a "hood spot" like Hicks Edges Gel.

Super Beauty Depot changed to me. When they first opened they had EVERYTHING. I think now it's more wigs and hair than anything. There is a new BSS on International Dr. in that mall I think it's a Marshall's, Ross and Bed Bath & Beyond...right before the outlets. They have some good stuff. there are a couple of BSS in the Walmart mall on Kirkman in Metro West.

Good to know. I haven't been there in over a year.
