Can I ask a dumb question? (Part II)

What does a 'wriggly' feeling on the scalp mean? It feels like bugs or worms are in different spots on my scalp, or sometimes it is like my scalp wants to be itchy, but instead I feel it slightly above the scalp, in the hair...if that makes sense. And yes, I keep it very clean. :lachen:

For the Roux Porosity Control, am I supposed to use the shampoo or the conditioner? Can I use it between my regular shampoo and DC? Do I use it every time I wash?

Does anyone else put UVA/B protection in their hair? Or is that very silly? :look: (To clarify: I look for hair spritzes that advertise UVA/B protection. I am not putting SPF lotion in my hair!)

This is more of a boards question. In the rules it states no curse words, but I see people who use "light" words, like hell or damn. What is the official rule on this? PG-level language? I really do not want to offend anyone here!

Can i ask a dumb question??

Sistaslick has a few articles about this she actually has one that tells you how to do a wet test on your hair....

her breakage post:

pages 4 and 5 of this article describes the wet test in length:

I've been waiting for this thread to resurface so I could get my question answered!

When I wear my hair in front of my shoulder, it is a little past cbl. When it's all behind my shoulder, it appears much longer (as seen in my siggy) this is normal correct? What length do you guys think I'm at?

When you subscribe to a thread you recieve either e-mail notices on when there are new posts in a thread. There is also a way to view subscribed threads in your control panel.

I still don't understand how to perform a:

1. Baking Soda rinse.

2. ACV rinse.

HELP!!!

With the baking soda i make sure i have a moisturising con handy in case i have been heavy handed with it. the bs might make the hair hard but the con softens it "like butter". i mix con and bs though.

i mix 1/3 cup ACV and 2 cups water....i pour it on my hair and dont rinse it

Is it better to do a heavy protein treatment, like Aphoghee 2 step, a few weeks before a relaxer or after? or maybe before and after?

I'm getting my relaxer in 2 weeks and was wondering what would be best...

I do a heavy protein 1 week b4 and a lighter a few days after

What exactly is ACV supposed to do?

The apple cider vinegar closes the cuticles after u have washed it. i think it does it by lowering the ph of the hair ......

u could also use cold/cool water after your con to close the cuticles.

which is more effective?:.....i have no idea but i do both but if i dont have time i just do the acv.

I would definitely go with the length that appears in your siggy. That's what we all go by at least. And because of the fact that you are bringing your hair forward you are seeing less of the length due to the anatomy of your body, which now means your hair is not just dangling (showing all of the length) you are actually "using" some of your length when you are bringing it forward and resting on your shoulder, etc. giving it that shorter appearance. Does that make sense? And girl, if you feel like your question aint been answered, you can just bump the thread and re-ask. LOL. You don't have to wait.. Well, hope this helps...

1) How do I get rid of the smell from doing a henna treatment. It STINKS!!!

2) How do ya'll get those v's in the back of your hair? Is that the way your hair grows?

3) How do you get second day hair as a natural. Even when I wear a bonnet, my hair is smooshed by morning.

hi, I'm new, my name is Nozomi. I've been lurking for a while and this forum has helped me lots .=]

I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the correct place as my question pertains to weaves but I'm in a bit of a desperate situation.

I got a full weave put in yesterday (my first full weave....thought I'd give my hair a break from flat ironing). I was very pleased with everything except for the closure which looked extremely odd , fake and toupee like. When I took a nap earlier in the evening I found that the closure had come half off and it now stands straight up on my head and you can see the underside of it:sad:

I think I can recall the woman who did my weave saying that she wouldn't be working tomorrow and I live in a rather small, rather isolated city ( Edmonton, Canada) and don't really know any salons or people in Edmonton who might be able to fix my hair . I would get by hiding under hats if it wasn't for the fact that I have to go to a formal dinner party with my boyfriend at his family's tomorrow. His extended family is going to be there and I really want to make a good impression:ohwell:.

If any body has any suggestions to fix this and to make my hairline natural looking or knows of any reputable weavers in Edmonton that would be very very very much appreciated.

I don't know if this question has been asked already, but can you make your thin hair thicker instead of just appearing to be thicker? I have long hair but not luscious and thick like a lot of beautiful ladies' hair are on here. Do I have to deal with my hair not ever being thick because that is just the way it grows or are there products or supplements out there that can give me that thick head of hair I always wanted?

Does anyone (natural in particular) moisturize their scalp? Or does every one just focus on ends? I've heard a clean scalp grows quicker, but now I'm just confused! Please everyone explain to me how you moisturize!

Scalp is skin and where your roots are located (The beginning of your hair). Ends are Ends of your hair.

If you think about your scalp being skin, you can understand the clean scalp theory.

I have dry itchy scalp if I go more than three days without moisturizing. Normally, I use water either I rinse, spray with water, or poo my hair. I try to poo twice a week but I don't always due to other commitments. I have used to use jojoba oil on my scalp. Since I wear my hair in its nature state, I wet my hair all over and seal (put) castor oil on the ends. Sealing the ends prevents splits ends and helps with retaining length.

In I wear my straight, I don't use water because my hair would revert. I use a little bit (I do mean little) Blended Beauty Straight Pearl (it is a water-based moisturizer) and seal the ends with avocado oil. If I have a the bad case of the itches I use jojoba oil.
I hope this makes sense because it took me awhile to get it to.

Bumping for answers or thoughts!

I like to oil my scalp with jamaican black castor oil and I know some others do too! You can oil your scalp for different reasons. Castor oil helps with thickness and growing in sparse areas (like my hairline!)

Roller setting is using the magnetic rollers and then itting under the dryer. Many people will use some type of heat protectant/leave-in/styling cream to get a really nice finish. The best thing todo is do a sreach because I don't know of any one product that everyone uses off the top of my head. Many will also blow-dry their roots after if they did not get straight enough with the rollers.
