Good tip @Lita about the rollers. I will try that. Do you leave your hair in those 6 braids as your style?

@divachyk Yes,sometimes I do...I unroll my hair and put it in a nice bun/I do leave the front out & it gives it nice ringlets..

*Keep us posted with your results..

I redid my two braids while in the shower today, I made it 5 days without any issues. I definitely think this style is the one.

My only concern is my nape. The corners of my nape begin far down my neck, is short, and very fragile - just a little pulling upwards causes discomfort.

So this time I braided both corners horizontally - towards each other - before adding them into my braids.

And.. after lurking for a few days in the shea butter challenge - I added some whipped SB into to the braids at the end of both cornrows.

On week 2 with my twists and not having to use much styling gel to keep the fly aways in check. I might have to use styling gel next week for the crown. I'd love to get to 4 weeks. Might be doable with wearing my twists in a bun on week 4.

I've begun we wearing some chunky two strand twists in a French braid all week. These shea butter folks might have a new convert as this is my third time trying it since summer and I finally think I've got it to work for me. I'm not going to let them know just yet, though. :drunk:

I'm going to install mini twists this weekend.

How do you all keep your protective styles “frizz” free all week? I use Eco Styler (Krystal is great), and sleep with my satin scarf, but as the day goes by, my twists, braids, and buns start to poof. The only thing that keeps my styles truly looking fresh for long periods of time is hairspray (and the one I’m using is not alcohol free). :badidea:

So I installed my mini twists. I made them looser in tension than I normally would so they're soft and fluffy.

I stayed in a bun for the first part of January. I put in smaller twists earlier this week, and I don’t like them at ALL! They are just so dry, much dryer than I ever remember... not sure what I’m going to do now...

Can you moisture really well and put your twist into a bun? I wore twist the first week of January and realized the weather was too dry for them.

    Moisturizing with Cantu Curl Cream
    Sealing with Canola Oil

After wearing my hair in the braids/bun style for 2 weeks straight, I did a quick wash and wore for a wash and go the two days. This is day 2:

This was my first wash and go for the year and I noticed two things:

    • My henna infused spray is making my hair 50 shades of reddish brown
    • My hair felt much stronger and lush

I've been doing a few new things in my regimen so it could be the protective style, hair treatments, henna spray, shea butter sealing, or a combination of everything. Either way, I plan to braid it right back up and bun it tomorrow.

I decided chunky twists are better than smaller twists from a time management perspective. The style doesn't last as long but the take down and re-twist of small twists is just too much.

    Current Protective Style:
2 week old Flat Twist Bun
Wash Day Today - Day off (2/7/19):
Detangle: (Fingers + Magic Star Rake)
    Garnier Honey Whole Blends
    Shampoo & DC w/Heat:
    SM Raw Shea Butter Shampoo
    L’Oréal Nature’s Therapy DC (30 min)
    Moisturize, Seal, & Stretch (Braid-Twists):
SM Raw Shea Butter Conditioner (L)
    Cantu Coconut Curl Cream (C)
    MyBelovedCrown Shea Butter (B)
    Next Day - Protective Style:

Flat Twist Bun w/Eco Styler Krystal Gel (duration: 2 weeks; no added hair)

Still loving the flat twist bun look, and the style keeps my hair tangle free (for two weeks!).

This deep conditioning commitment is really not working out. Right now, my detangling conditioner and shampoo leave my hair soft, tangle free, and happy. I dc and it undoes all of that goodness. For now, I’m going to add oil to and use up the SM Manuka Mask and this new L’Oreal one I’m trying. Patch tests lie (DCs always seem to work on one twist but not the whole head lol).

I'm still wearing my fluffy mini twists. I decided not to wash them last weekend so that they would last longer. I have been using whipped shea on my ends since the beginning of the year and I think it has been doing my hair good. I'm now experimenting with a capuacu/cocoa butter whipped butter to see if I am getting the same results. If not, I'm going to have to switch back and join the folks in the shea group once and for all.

I took your advice way back in January and was able to revive my twists. They’ve held up pretty well. I’m planning to wash and style my hair this weekend.

I’m with you - I just don’t have the patience for the smaller twists anymore. I still love them though.

I'll drop these here too. This is the bun I use for stretching until I can do my twists this weekend.
