For the most part, yes, this is my second time natural. I'm still fine tuning some things, but I have most of my staples and I don't plan on changing my products for "the next best thing". If it ain't broke, don't fix it--that's the key to retaining length for me.

Shampoo: Creme of nature argan oil or shea retention shampoo
Deep conditioners: Shea moisture masques (love the purification masque especially). I have the manuka honey and also the yucca masque
Conditioners: Trader joe's tea tree conditioner, Eden bodyworks cowash
Protein treatment: Nutress protein
Oils: Avocado, Jojoba, JBCO, Sweet almond oil
Moisturizers: Qhemet biologics

Still looking for a leave-in that doesn't make my hair hard and doesn't have coconut oil or aloe vera.

Yep!

For DCs I use: any of Naturelle Grow's conditioners and Darcy's Pumpskinseed
Protein: Komaza, I also have some Curly Junkie Repair Me that I need to finish off but Komaza is a better protein treatment and it's cheaper also.

Shampoos: several to choose from and rotate

Moisturizer and leave in: APB creamy pudding and APB leave in

Styler: Darcy's moisturizing gel

Oil: Not really a big oil user, but coconut oil is fine

What happened? Which product was it?

Do tell... I've been considering trying Silicon Mix or Crece Pelo since I've heard great things about both.

On break
I'm getting close to having my products nailed down, and I'm so happy, grateful, and excited! :wiggle:

Up until recently, I was trying things based first on recommendation/reviews. Of course, that had my trying scores of things.
I have learned that a MUCH better way is to focus on ingredients that I am learning work for my hair/scalp.

Staples and/or Holy Grails
  1. Detangler/prepoo: Shea Moisture High Porosity Moisture-seal Masque, repurposed to be a detangler/prepoo
  2. Clay/mud poo: Sheaterra mud-poo
  3. Regular sudsing cleanser: 22nd Century Natural Woman Shampoo Bar; Camille Rose Naturals Sweet Ginger Cleanser?
  4. Protein treatment: Komaza Protein Hair Strengthener
  5. Balancing deep conditioner: Camille Rose Naturals Coconut Water Deep Penetrating Hair Treatment
  6. Gel: Curl Prep Around the Way Gel; Camille Rose Naturals Curl Maker
  7. Styling butter/cream: Camille Rose Naturals Coconut Water "Style Setter"
Products That Are Fine, but I'll Probably Keep Trialing Until I Find a Staple or Holy Grails
  1. Chelating cleanser: ? . . . ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo, Shea Moisture Clear Start (discontinued), and Kinky Curly Come Clean are fine
  2. Edge control: ? . . . Mielle Organics is fine until I find a staple or HG
Categories for Which I'm Still Looking for Staples of Holy Grails
  1. Scalp cleanser/exfoliator: ? . . . Silk Elements Pre-Cleanse Scalp Treatment is fine until I find a staple or HG
  2. Moisturizing, protein-free deep conditioner: ?
  3. Oil: ? . . . I love Soultanicals Knot Dressing Oil (amazing smell, good ingredients) and will trial CRN Cocoa Nibs & Honey Ultimate Growth Serum
  4. Leave-in conditioner: ? . . . At the moment Curl Junkie Curl Assurance Smoothing Lotion is great due to the insane SLIP

I'm all set as far as my hair care products for length retention, and growth products.

OGX Coconut Milk Poo & Con for wash day once a week.

Suave Coconut Extract & Vitamin E for Cowashing.

Olive Miracle Growth Moisturizing Lotion or SM JBCO Leave In for moisturizing and Olive Miracle Anti-Breakage Growth Oil to seal.

DooGro mega thick growth oil for scalp massages and sealing on water wash days.

Parashute Ayurvedic Coconut Hot Oil for hot oil treatments

SM JBCO DC as my DC

Coconut Oil as my prepoo.

As far as styling products. I have a million, no staples there yet. I also still try new things. I have a lot of protein based products, I need to find some ultra moisturizing products to keep the balance.

I was lucky with my journey when it came to products. I found the majority of my important staples in the very beginning. I found my dc, protein dc, leave in and sealer all within maybe a yr or two of my hhj.

dc:

myhoneychild
honey hair mask
coconut papaya hair paste
olive you dc

Karens body beautiful
Luscious locks hair mask

Proitein:

Aphogee 2 min recon
Organic root stimulator hair mayo

Leave in:

Giovanni direct leave in
Kinky Curly Knot today

Sealers:
Avocado butter
Hemp seed butter

With shampoos, and stylers I've had to change them with going natural. My hair didn't mind sulfates in the beg because it was use to them but after bcing the sec time it didn't like it and i had to change my shampoo. I found the right shampoo first try (Chagrin Valley shampoo bars).

The last thing I changed with this third and last bc was stylers. That one was actually the hardest. I've been natural almost 2 yrs and I just recently descovered the perfect techniques and products to style my hair any way I want.

Hi Yvette, it's the same-ole basic products from before.
Liggett's Shampoo Bar
Hollywood Beauty Cholesterol Mixed with Shea Butter.
Care Free Curl Activator
Blue Magic.

Nothing has really changed.

So you mix shea butter in or does Hollywood Beauty have a cholesterol that's shea butter based? I'm probably reading too much into it, I just want to clarify.

I Am So Blessed

I'm easy going.

I melt two tablespoons of Shea Butter and ad it into the Cholesterol.

Hollywood Beauty has a Shea butter Cholesterol as well, I use all three of theseupload_2018-2-23_13-58-8.png.

I still add melted Shea Butter to it. Adds more slip.

Rinse Out: Oyin Handmade Honey Hemp
Deep Conditioner: TBA

Gel: Kinky Curly Curling Custard
Oils: Sweet Almond Oil, Argan Oil, Sunny Isle Lavender JBCO Pure Butter (it's pure oil turned into a heavy grease and it's just )

I am slowly but surely mastering my product regimen :)

Earlier this year I did a cream blitz and trialled a bunch of creams to determine my favourites. Currently doing a DC blitz so hopefully by the end of the year I’ll have mastered that part of my regimen too. For shampoos I honestly haven’t tried many and really don’t care to, I’m the least picky with my shampoos.

ive been getting into rollersets a lot lately, so I’m trying to figure out my staples for that as well.

mastering a product regimen is time consuming and expensive :(

prepoo / detangler
Giovanni smooth as silk deeper moisture + babassu oil

Shampoo
  • Moisturizing : keracare curlessence JBCO shampoo
  • Clarifying : joico clarifying shampoo
  • All purpose: any Ethique shampoo bar

Deep conditioner
  • TGIN Repairx DC
  • Shea Moisture honey and yogurt protein Treatment

leave in :
  • Tgin repair x leave in
  • Mielle white peony

Creams
  • Camille rose aloe whipped butter gel
  • EdenBodyWorks coconut curl defining cream
  • Mielle pomegranate Honey twisting souffle
Gel
  • Wetline
Oil : melanin Haircare oil
