I agree with what you have written. The one thing I do think about is how useless this is… an entire country destroyed, that will need billions upon billions to rebuild, for absolutely no reason other than a crazy old man’s desire to re-establish the Russian [Soviet] empire. And yet, Ukraine has to fight on, because otherwise, Moldova, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and even Putin’s so-called ally, Belarus, are all at risk of also losing their independence again, and even bordering countries with a history of Russian/Soviet intervention/occupation, such as Poland, Mongolia and Finland would also be at risk.Is anyone else talking about this on a regular basis? There's someone in my circle and this is ALL he ever talks about. "We must support Ukraine!" Literally has the t-shirt. Looks for local Ukraninan events to attend because "they have to know we haven't forgotten about them." Even went so far as to pay to vote for Ukraine in Eurovision in hopes that they can host it next year. One friend said "Wouldn't it make more sense to take that money you're giving to Eurovision and donate it to an aid organization working in the Ukraine?" He didn't agree. Even if the war ended today, I'm not sure that their initial focus should be hosting a singing contest next year, but that's just me.
Am I just unengaged in a bad way? Honestly, some of the stories about them stopping the African students from evacuating at the onset and being salty that they've been relocated in black and Muslim neighborhoods have made it easy to be a bit disengaged.
