Took down my flat twist last night; gave my hair some much needed TLC. I had a bit more shedding than usual. I think I let my braids hang out for too long under my wig. I'm going to up my wash/cowash days to weekly for now.

I had to stop letting my braids hibernate for so long for that very reason.

Last night, I pre-poo'd overnight with my AVJ mix & Brahmi/Amla Oil. This morning, I added ORS Olive Oil Replenishing DC under a heat cap for 1.5 hours. CW'd with Honey's Handmade Pumpkin & Safflower Apple Butter, SSI Okra Reconstructor, ACV Rinse & an 80% rinse out of SM African Black Balancing Conditioner.

I LCOB'd with Cozy Moments Protein Mist, Treluxe Untie the Knot, Keravada Super Gro on scalp, Duafe Amla on length, Kreyol Essence HBCO Peppermint on edges and Kyra's Shea Medley Rejuvenate butter on ends. I'm all plaited up and ready to continue wigging it for the week.

Okay guys, so there's this amazing wig maker that I follow on Instagram.....I recently reached out to her and she said that her base price is 575 for wigs, BUT she provides the hair.....ugh lol. I think I'm going to just do a regular 200 brazilian wig. But I want one of her pieces sooooo badly. I think I'll order one for my wedding, because that's part of my budget lolol

But yeah, I henna'd my hair on Saturday, washed it out, threw some DC on, and put my hair in two buns to stretch and dry, then yesterday I moisturized, sealed and braided it up. Right now I'm under a wig, and plan to be for the next month or so.

Me too....I wear wigs 1-2 days out of the week. My hair is normally twisted. I haven't brought a wig in about 2-3 years (I had so many) but now i want a nice looking one. So hopefully I can find one. I'm also interested in making my own. I'll have to start watching Youtube for that.

There are many - it depends on what you mean by affordable.
If you find the 2015 Wig Challenge, you should get some info that is useful to you.
I bought all of my lace fronts from Eva Wigs. evawigs.com
Mine were customized and the average cost was $360.

I'm wearing a wig to work for the first time today and I'm super self conscious about it. It's the same length as my own hair pretty much and I work with mostly white people, so everyone thinks I've just curled it or something. It's a little uncomfortable; I'll be taking it off as soon as I get home.

LOL.... when I'm wearing a wig and clear coworkers like my hair.... I say thanks and keep it moving. I will tell the sista's its a wig since they are into haircare and protective styling ~~ and don't have a million questions, except where did you get it!

You look great in that wig girlie!

Hi Ladies!

I would like to join this challenge except I plan to sew the perimeter of the wig down for added security. Does that qualify for this challenge or is that more like a sew in?

1. How long do you plan on wigging it?: I plan to wear a half wig until I can obtain the growth, thickness, and length that I would like to have. My hair is already pretty healthy and well maintained even though I've worn weaves and wigs. I found a great product line and treatment that I love(Etae Products).

2. How will you take care of your hair while using the wig/phony pony?: I will keep my hair wrapped as much as possible underneath the wig cap and wig. I wash and condition at least once to twice a week depending on how oily my hair is. I don't like my hair to be super oily and plus I have to keep the front part nice(I wear half wigs). I can't braid for nothing. I thought about going to a braid shop and just having them braid it down and keeping it braided for two weeks at a time. But I like to brush and comb through my hair at least once in the morning and once at night. I want to get one of those scalp massagers. Actually the lady I went to when I had a weave had this shampoo brush that was really good. I want to get a shampoo brush or a scalp massager.

3. Natural, Relaxed, Texlaxed, Transitioning: I am natural. I don't remember how long and when my last relaxer was but its been over a year and some months since I've had a relaxer.

4. Current Hair Length: My current hair length is neck length. almost like a uneven bob.

5. 2016 Hair Length Goal: I wish to reach at least shoulder or a little pass the shoulder length. I don't mind layers or different lengths of hair.

6. Starting Photo: I don't have any photos right now. I will upload them later.
