What are your hair goals AND are they realisitic?

I just realized I need to change my hair goal in my siggy- it ain't happening. :lachen:I do believe my natural hair (in it's shrunken state) will be fully armpit length at the end of 2008 and maybe midback in 2009. I am also going to tweak my current hair regimen to achieve this goal. Anyone else with realistic goals out there?

Hi Bubbling!

Right now I want thick, shiny hair, length doesnt matter right now. I just want healthy hair.

Then after that I would like to reach APL.

And then I'll be satisfied. I think:look:

That's realistic right?

I have been shooting for WL. I am at the top of my natural waist. (Not claiming WL yet) however, I would like to be at the bottom of my waist where my skirt/slacks begin. I say if I am not already at my terminal length I should be there by early spring.

My long term goal is elbows stretched, so I guess cuz I ahve really long arms, thats about waist length. I'm at APL stretched now so I have got a ways to go, but I think can acheive this goal....... in time:look:. I don't care how long it is unstretched because shrinkage is a *&%$&$ if ur hais is curlier than Chilli from TLC:grin: My current goal i sblunt BSL, and I want that by then of 2008. We'll see.........

Hi Loca!!! When we hit up Miami, you better talk more this time, missy!

My goal is WL by June 30, 3008, and I think it's realistic. When I first started out on this journey, I was about 1/2 in or so past BSL. Now, I am about 2.5 to 3 in from my goal. I figure that upping my deadline to June 2008 would give me time to achieve my goal. Something I've stopped doing to help me notice the improvements along the way is checking the length. I used to check my length just about every week, and of course, I wasn't really seeing any growth/improvements. So, I marked down the last time I checked my length and I won't be checking it again for a while. Now I'm just focusing on maintaining a healthy head of hair (my goal is focused on subconsciously). The length will come.

Bubblingbrownshuga I am in the same boat as you with the shrinkage goal.

I swear my hair gets a stronger shrinkage factor the longer it grows. I can't figure it out but I realize I will drive myself crazy if I try to deal with this one so I am dealing more with the stretched goals and will keep my shrinkage goal but just change my mindset about it, if I make it great, if I don't that will be okay I will just assess where it is and try to understand.

If it is continuing to grow and it is healthy then I am going to be okay with it, I have to be, I won't have a choice :ohwell:. I am still learning about this shrinkage issue with my hair so I guess it is new territory to explore and I am boldly going where no man has gone before! :lachen:

Maybe if I change it to BSL in its shrunken state to Dec, 2011 that would give me four years to get there. See, I am changing my mindset about this, I am accepting and going with the flow.

Okay...admittedly my goals are not so realistic but I made them when I first discovered LHCF...and now I just want to see if I can actually do it :look:

If I do accomplish my goals, then it should be very very inspirational to others :yep:

I'm taking a very laid-back approach to my hair length goal. I would like to see waistlength stretched or unstretched, but if that doesn't happen, no problem.

My ultimate goal is wait length streched. But first, I need to transition then I guess I can get serious about getting there.

to me , my goal is realistic, some ppl may think it isnt , but i have two family members who still are/ were at that length and my own mother who came close , so i think its achievable. Waist length unstretched will definatly take a while but im sure ill get there.

Well,

my goal right now is to grow out my layers. It has been hard because the shorter layers actually grow waaaaayyy slower than the rest of my hair.

It is aggravating!

I am changing things up a bit. I am wearing my hair up most of the time now and I am applying scalp stimulators to those shorter areas only. I had gotten totally against growth aids but desperation has kicked in! I have been using Lenzi's request oil and I just made my own little concoction to boost it a bit more. Those areas need to get in gear!!!

I planned on reaching my goal by DEC 07 but it ain't happnin'. :nono:

I think if I cut my hair it would be there, but I just can't find it in myself to do that - not yet at least.

When I first joined, I was barely SL, and I set a goal to be BSL by my first anniversary. Buuuuuut, that ain't happenin  I'm scraping APL right now, so by the time my one year is up, hopefully I'll be an inch or two past APL.

I seem to go back and forth, back and forth because my eyes are playing tricks on me. That's because right now there is so much NG and shrinkage that at times I get discouraged, thinking that it's going to take longer than I had initially thought to reach my length goal. What I keep reminding myself is that my initial goal does not involve length at all. I want healthy, thicker hair. Yes, it does look like I will make APL in December, but I'll be more disappointed if it's dry, lifeless, dull, see-through APL hair, rather than full, thicker healthier APL hair.

So I just have to keep reminding myself that my goal is to have healthy, thicker hair FIRST AND FOREMOST. Length will come when it's ready. I even vowed to cut an inch or two if the health is lacking. I'll just have to be patient and see what happens in December. I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't anxious. December will be here before we know it, though. ;)

I'm taking a very laid-back approach to my hair length goal.

Same here. I'm just ready to get a decent ponytail. :ohwell: When I was relaxed, I didn't want my hair to get any longer than APL. Maybe BSL. But now that I'm natural, it's a whole new ballgame because when my hair is APL. It certainly isn't going to look it. So I have no clue what my real goal is now. Maybe chin/neck length unstretched? Maybe shoulder length unstretched? That's gonna take forever though.

I think my hair goals are realistic. For one, I'm giving myself 8 months to grow 3 inches of hair. I think that's possible given that my hair grows 1/2 inch per month, however, my worst enemy has been SCISSORS!

Also, another goal of mine is to grow out my layers. I do believe it is possible, but this will take much longer. :(

I think mine is realistic. I just want the thick curly almost WL hair I had as a child. I was almost there the last two times I went natural. Don't know what's going on now. Either my regimen is hindering me or that last relaxer (5/05) did a bad number on me:perplexed

My short-term goal is to be at my natural waist by June/July '08....and that's pretty realistic because my longest layer was right above my waist at the end of September.

My long-term goal is to be at the bottom of my waist....hopefully by Dec '08. I'm not sure how realistic that goal is at this point. But if it's anything like the journey between BSL and MBL it might be a while.

My Goal length is WL....and I think it is very realistic...considering I giving myself untill Im 30 yrs old to reach this goal...I'm 26 now...so I take one day at a time....I think that when you set a big goal w/ a date that is not really realistic u start doing crazy stuff to achieve it...like changing hair products, adding to much product...trying hair growth aids, changing diet or regimin...Not to stay it wont benefit...but alot of time if it aint consistant it can do more harm then good. :yep:

______________
4a Relaxed/Color Treated/ Fine
Currently: APL ( reached 8/07)
2nd Goal : BSL( 3/08)
Ult.Goal: WL ( By my 30th B-Day)

I will be completely happy with thick BSL hair. If I get to MBL or WL that'll be gravy. I don't set dates anymore, because they make me go crazy. I'm just taking my time, doing what my hair likes, and trying to be patient. I should be BSL sometime in early '08, but I don't take anything for granted.

This is exactly where I'm at! It took me one year of haircare to finally get my hair at a "healthy" state and to find the right products/regimen that fits my hair. So now I'm shooting for even and full hair. At first I wanted to reach APL by December 07 (which I think I already did) but my hair is sooo uneven, with a whole bunch of layers everywhere. And it's pissin' me off :wallbash: Lol. It'll taken me forever to grow it out. So I might cut my hair to above shoulder length (where the shortest layer ends) for a fresh start, and hopefully be APL by next December.

Yeah I am giving myself one year to get my hair in shape. I have to deal with dryness, thin ends, etc. then I'll focus on length. Your hair is looking very full in your avatar.

Did you cut layers? Does your hair usually grow blunt?

I think my goal is realistic. I'm aiming for collar bone length unstreched. Not sure how long it will take me to get there, but hopefully not too much longer. I'm neck length unstreched now.

I'm aiming for sl unstretched by dec 08. So i guess bsl stretched. Right now I'm sl stretched. It took me from me 6 months to get my hair healthy after taking my locs down. I think I can make my goal. Is that realistic?

I want relaxed hair that is at least apl length, preferably bra strap length. I know that is attainable but it feels light years away.

I think my hair goals are realistic - I am claiming it by faith. I want my hair to lok like amel's in my avatar. To be fair I am very pleased with how my hair is doing. I have always had thin, breaking and flat hair, no I can believe how good my hair is. I am still learning how to style it, that is my concern at the moment.

For next year, my goal is to be full BSL. Now if I retain all my growth(and get a summer spurt), I should be there. Hoping to be like my avatar when I turn 30! so that gives my 2 years.

I truly hope that my hair goal is realistic. When I tell people what it is they look at me like I'm smoking.:ohwell: I guess it's because my hair has never before been that long. Anyway, I am at shoulder length now and my short term goal is APL while my long term goal is BSL. I don't have a definate time frame although I would like to see APL by Christmas of '08. That is about 5" for me. If I can stand up to my otherwise great SHS I should be able to make it.
