Introduction. With pics, so don\'t kill me if your comp crashes.
I didn't see like an introductory thread or anything, so I just decided to post here. Sorry if I wasn't supposed to.
My name is Christina, my friends call me Starian. I'm 19, and I'm here looking for tips on how to grow my hair back out. I also want to get some style tips because my Mom says if she "sees me in that damn bun one more time she's going to choke me". And I also get a lot of "You have the hair so why don't you do something with it?" Yeah. That's where looking at you guys comes in at.
It's a mixture of Type 1 and 2b (Type 1 relaxed, 2b with the new growth). I don't know where I got my long hair from but it sure wasn't my Mom's side. Her people have hair so short you can roll it with rice. My Dad's side I don't know much about because he's bald /images/graemlins/tongue.gif, but I hear one of my aunt's had hair so long she could sit on it. *shrugs* A couple of pics of my childhood hair. Throughout the majority of my childhood my hair was about waist-length. I didn't get relaxers, just the evil hot comb.
As I grew into my teen years and started doing my own hair, it stopped growing and kind of evened out. It was about 2 inches below my brastrap for about 4 years. Here's a couple of pics on how I usually wore my hair during my teen years until about 6 months ago.
Well, to make an already long story shorter, I live in New Orleans. The heat was getting to me. So, I cut my hair to about shoulder length 6 months ago and immediately regretted it. So, I'm trying to grow it back. Here's how it looks now.
In this one, my hair looks shorter than it is. My hair has a wierd curl pattern. My ends flip out instead of under and anytime I put rollers in it, I have major shrinkage. It's annoying.
Here's a side view. I know you can't tell, but my hair is about an inch and a half away from brastrap length. Since I can't live without my bangs, it's layered, but the longest part of my hair is about that length.
I'm currently taking 2000 mcg of Biotin a day, along with 30 mg of Zinc. No noticable difference yet, but I'll see how it goes at my next relaxer. I'll be starting a hair journal soon, so that's something to look forward to. I guess more for me than for you. /images/graemlins/wink.gif
That's my loooooong introduction. I look forward to getting to know you guys better. Ya'll seem cool and I'm happy to be here. /images/graemlins/grin.gif
