September 1, 2009

Ends:
Ongoing

Rules:
None

Suggestions for this challenge:
1. Set a goal or several goals. Whatever works for you.
2. Report it here

I'll join you. I know how you feel. My last relaxer was in May, but I dont have near enough growth to BC. Plus I want my length. So I'm transitioning for at least a year, probably mostly under wigs.

For me personally I do not want to bc. I want to be a long term transitioner. So my goals are:

First full assessment:
6 months post
Then monthly

First goal
1 year--July 2010

Second goal
1.5 years--Jan 2011

Ulimate goal
2 years--July 2011

Basically I will do an assessment on these dates but ultimately I am aiming for July 2011. If I can pull my natural hair into a pony tail or bun prior to that then I will probably fully transition earlier. My plan is to slowly chop along the way.

Happy transitioning Shay, I'm 47 weeks and really don't know what I'll do but I'll come in here to motivate and support everyone.

Joining. My last relaxer was 8/1/09. My goal is not to BC before I reach SL. I want to see my true texture before I BC. My mom relaxed my hair before I started Jr. High, but I can't remember the texture. She told me I had curls and the only reason she relaxed it was because it was so thick she couldn't manage it. Any way, this will be an enlighting journey.

My styles will be rollersets and braidouts until 4 months (my last stretch). Then I will do braids or sew-ins. I did buy 2 half wigs that I really, really want to try, if I can get the courage to wear them outside of the house.

good thread! -
well - I minichopped today. I got extremely sick and tired of the massive shedding.

my last relaxer was April 25th 2009, soo I'm 4 months in.
Still don't know what my hair texture is. I'm 4 z I suppose.

I'm "protective" styling with a "natural" looking wig. Now that I have more "texture" I need a wig with more kink.

This chop, I still have more relaxed hair than naps. I'll do 2 more chops. The next one I should have more naps than relaxed hair and the last chop is THE chop.

here's some pics of where I started beginning transition, shedding, minichop and wig.

I make 30 look good!
I'm down. I dont ever plan on BCing. I haven't texlaxed since Dec. 31, 2009. My goal is to slowy trim off my relaxed ends, then reach my goal length then I'll trim off the texlaxed hair slowly. Ultimately I want BSL natural hair by my 30th b-day in 2 years.

Yeah, what she said...

I am already a part of 2 of the challenges in the links Shay posted, the long term stretch and the 8 weeks + challenges. I do want to texlax at the end of this stretch but that is not carved in stone right now.

I am really loving my natural texture seeing I am over 7 months post at the moment and I am indeed enjoying it to the max:grin:. But who knows in another 6 months what I will be feeling:look:? I will be here from time to time to support everyone none the less:yep:.

I'm in. I haven't relaxed since 4/1/09. I'm just taking it day by day. So far, I've just been doing twist outs and flexi rods sets. I think I'm going to get braids for a while. I have not plan to BC.

I was thinking of blow drying and flat ironing my hair now that I have my new PM Ion Express styler and my new hair dryer. Seriously I don't even know I will do it. Every since I texlaxed my hair and noticed the waves I don't care about my hair being straight. That was one of my first signs that maybe I should go natural.

I'm in!:yep: I plan to continue transitioning in braids. I don't want to BC so I'll do mini chops until I reach a length that I'm comfortable with.

My last relaxer was April 25, 2009. I plan to transition until October 25, 2010 (I hope).:look:

I'm in. I plan to transition with weaves and just trim my hair on an as needed basis. I may not trim at all until it gets longer. I am currently 22 weeks post.

MummysGirl--You're the reason I tried twistouts and I fell in love with them. That will definitely be a transitioning style for me.

Count me in..... I plan on trimming every 2 month or so about a 1/2 inch til gone... My hair thrives when it's natural... It usually don't take me that long before I can get a puff ball.. (decent size not a mini) Soooo I'm growing and cutting.....

Last touch-up was June 2009 currently I'm almost 12wks post....
My next update will be late Oct 09, Dec 09, Feb 10, April 10. Hopefully June 10 I can get rid of those relaxed ends....

I'm on!

I am currently 50 weeks post at the moment, and have my system pretty much down pat, but I'll definately pop up and help motivate ya'll!

I decided that I would transition for around 100 or so weeks:timer:. Yes, I'm sure that sounds crazy, but besides becoming natural I am also trying to have long hair, so patience is key. The year goes really fast!

I am so happy to see so many people joining in. I need ya'll :) to help keep me going. Naturals are all over this board and the internet looking all fierce with their twa.

Yes I am. I have actually slowed my roll on the trimming. I have only hair 2or 3 trims in the past 18 months. I've been going back and forth with the decision for a while. Now that I am making it public there is no turning back and I am actually serious about doing this. I just wanna feel "my" hair.

I posted a video on youtube about taking out my weave and transitioning. Thanks for your support!! :yep:

I'm in! This will be my second transition and I do not anticipate having a third. The first time I did it, I transitioned for about 5 months then did the BC. I want to transition for at least that long, but that will put me doing the BC late November. And seeing as I now live in Chicago, I don't know if I should try a TWA in my first Windy City winter. But I'm also not the most patient person, so we shall see .
My last relaxer was June 21, 2009. I plan on transitioning with roller sets, braids, and kinky twists.
