USE UP YOUR STASH 2013: SESSION 3

I've decided to repurpose my Oyin Whipped Shea Butter in Rich Almond. It smells heavenly, but it is too thick to use on my hair. I'm going to start using it on my body during the winter instead.

I'm giving away my bee mine shampoo to my sister. I tried it twice and it stripped my hair both times.

I'm also returning the camille rose curlaid butter. This was too heavy for my hair and kept moisture out, which I dont need. It also felt a little like a strong protein. I'm sticking with the almond jai.

Giving away a few products in my hodge podge box.

Shea Moisture Elixir, As I Am Double Butter,
HQ The Slip, Purabody Murumuru,
Hydroquench - Coconut Mango Repair Mask

Picked up Hairveda Whipped Ends on the Exchange Board. And purchased a few samples from Ingredients to Die For: Vegemoist, Marshmallow Moisture Balm, Organicals Dew Drops, Organicals Healthy Locks and Hazelnut Oil

My stash is way below 20 now so I have some wiggle room.

I have not used up anything in a while. I have one or two uses of a bottle of Ouidad Curl CoWash left.

Stash is much more reasonable now. I will purchase my leave ins and butters from Hairitage Hydration mostly. I will use select items from a couple other lines.

 Hello everyone! I fearfully have been skipping over these threads for a long time and it is time I joined.

1. What are your motivations for joining this challenge?
Since becoming natural I have renewed interest in my hair journey. I also have great motivation to get my DD's hair to its ideal condition (which is what originally brought me to LHCF years ago). I realized that I have A LOT of stuff, most of it never used, and I just kept on buying and buying. I got a little thrill just buying the stuff. It's like I thought if I bought the stuff that my hair would automatically react (just like my daddy who buys bagged salads and lets them rot in the fridge, but swears his diet is better). I even use DD as an excuse to buy stuff. I realized I have spent A LOT of money and I want to be more responsible. Then I want to get down to my and my daughters staples.

2. List the products you hope to use up in your stash.
On the immediate chopping block for use are: Camille Rose Naturals Curl Love Moisture Milk, a bottle of amla oil, a .5oz bottle of Proclaim Argan Oil Hair Oil "treatment", Jane Carter Revitalizing Leave In, Eden Bodyworks Peppermint Tea Tree Temple Balm, The Natural Source Hi-Shine Detangler con, Yes to Cucumbers Daily Makeover con, VO5 Kiwi con, Hair One Cleanser packet, JASON Apple and Green Tea Clarifying poo, Elasta QP Creme Conditioning poo, It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In, a bottle of castor oil, twothree packets of Creme of Nature Argan Oil Intensive Conditioning Treatment, ORS Hair Mayonaisse, ORS Olive Oil Replenishing con, and ApHogee Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor

3. Post a Pic of your "Stash". (Optional)
Coming...with a full inventory as well.

4. What are your goal(s) for the session
My goals are to use up as much as possible while taking note of which products worked best, to not spend any more money on hair products while I already have so many, to increase the amount of closet and bathroom vanity space by getting rid of stuff, and to find our staples.

I'm finally joining because I have something to report. In the last few weeks we have used up LUSH Curly Wurly poo, Pantene Relaxed and Natural Breakage Defense Mask (found that oldie-but-goody in the drawer, R.I.P.), Kemi Oil (another oldie), sample size Ecostyler pink, and a jar of coconut oil.

Adding a midweek cowash for me and increasing how often I do DD's hair (from every 2 weeks to every week) has been helping us get through product. I wish I could go to a meetup and unload. Maybe I'll head over to the exchange forum soon.

I'll be back in a few days to report my inventory/post pics.

Thanks for this thread and the motivation!

4. What are your goal(s) for the session

My goal is to shrink my DC stash by 20% by end of this year. I full routine wash my hair weekly and do mid week co-washes as needed. I wash and Dc my dd every 2 weeks. I will do a deep treatment using the relaxer method each time I wash co-wash our hairs. My main focus will be using up all the open DCs that are not staples. I will add my KeraVada oils to those DCs that unperformed in the past and as a result got used only once or twice. I will also gift some of my stash to friends/family and donate some to shelters.

Welcome hair4today. Now that is a DC stash :yep:

You have come to the right place.

Thanks faithVA. I've following this thread for quite a while and saw the progress over time that was being made by you all which got me motivated. Honestly it feels like a weight has been lifted just by putting my list together (which was a ton of work) and writing down my goals. Looking forward to crossing things off my list :yep:

Dayjoy , I came in this thread just to lurk and take a peek. But I could post a picture of a rotten bag of salad in my Dad's fridge right now.

The HairVeda Whipped Ends is more like a leave-in than a thick moisturizer so I am still on the hunt for one. While at the health food store Friday, I picked up the Beautiful Curls Activating Cream. I will use that today after my leave-in. I may end up trying to make one. I don't want to buy a lot of things online that aren't even close to the consistency I want. I did have an aha moment though, I need to buy things that are in jars and not tubes. The probability is that it will be heavier.

I also got some samples from Dax. I wanted to try their new non petroleum line but it isn't sold in the BSS near me. I will try those out and try making one before I buy any more moisturizers.

Washing today but not planning on using up anything.

Ogoma what didn't you like about the Kera Vada oils?

I tossed the Hairveda Red Tea Strong Holding Gel. Had green mold in it. I should have left it under the sink and not in the box by my window. :ohwell:

I ahd to do the same thing. Hairveda needs to do something about that because I kept mine in a cool dark closet and it still molded :perplexed

The oils were fine. My skin just hated the coconut oil as usual. I thought it would be different this time, but my skin was not having it. I have three large pimples all along my hairline. It always happens to me with coconut oil. I am still trying to fix all the acne spots from my last foray with virgin coconut oil. Between hair and skin, my skin wins.

I purchased:
- Qhemet Biologics Burdock Root Butter Cream
- Blended Beauty Curl Quenching Conditioner
- Bee Mine Deja's Hair Milk
- Darcy's Botanicals Moisturizing Hair Mask

A friend gave me:
- Uncle Funky's Daughter's Curly Magic Curl Stimulator
- Carol's Daughter's Chocolat Smoothing Blow Dry Cream

I'm either converting my Oyin Whipped Pudding or giving it away. It was too heavy for my hair.

I just used up my Aubrey Organics Blue Chamomile Shampoo. I'm not sure I like it.

I'm torn between wanting my Curl Junkie Curl Assurance Lotion to end so I can cross it off my list, and wanting it to last forever. I love this stuff. It has amazing slip, and the bottle seems to be bottomless. I'll probably re-buy this at BF, but it may be the only buy I have left by then.

Oyin boing was not my friend. It made my hair hard like gel :(

I think I'm going to return my KBB hair cream. I like it, but the glycerin works best in the summer and I have a bunch of other stuff to use up. Plus I didn't buy it on sale, so I can repurchase it during a summer sale.

Since my last post, DD and I have used up ORS Hair Mayonaisse, Hair One Cleansing Conditioning packet, JASON Apple and Green Tea Clarifying poo, and one Creme of Nature Argan Oil Intensive Conditioning Treatment packet. We're on our way!

I usee my AO blue chamomile conditioner sample. It was too small to really tell if it works.

I'm getting discouraged about my oyin products. The only ones that seem to work are the hair dew and the pomade. I tried the shine & define again today on my flat twists, and it did nothing.
