I'm in! I love ayurveda hair care and have a few powders I'm trying to use up including henna. In fact, yesterday, I did a ayur-cowash gloss of powders mixed in with conditioner and left it on my hair for about half an hour and washed it out. My hair was very soft and Iam surprised because I actually added a TBS of shikakai powder which normally leaves my hair feeling stripped and dry.

if im not mistaken a gloss is when you take your powder, in this case cassia, and you mix it with conditioner and other ingredients like honey and oil. full strength would be just the powder and water, or powder and tea/coffee, but when you mix with conditioner it becomes a gloss because of the extra conditioning and shine you get from the conditioner.

dancinstallion, i've just typed on Google and find a lot sellers
check it out here

SO !!! we are officially 4 !!!! lol
what about JSWFASHION ??
tomorrow i'm started with my wash and deep treatments !! so in a hurry to see cassia first results !!!

I know I am really late with this but I would like to join this challenge. I have been using ayurveda for over 2 years now. I usually do a paste of shikaki, alma, brahmi ( and hibiscus and maka when I get a hold of them) every 2-4 days. However, I just got kapi tone powder so I will be using that instead.I henna every week overnight. So I am a pretty hard core ayurveda user. lol I will have a starting picture next week because I plan to straighten my hair for the first time in 15 months this weekend.:look: Oh, my goals are to retain length and get thicker hair.

thank you because i didn't know what does a "gloss" mean.
i prefer doing my cassia treatment with only it + water for full effectiness.
even if oil and conditionenr will help to for rinsing out easier. but I want a full effect.
I wonder if it makes a sense because I then following with a DC.. mmmmhh ..
:ohwell:

it nice to read about you !!!
are you serious about henna-ing everyweek AND overnight? doesn't your hair become too much brittle ? hard?
i've read and heard so much that henna is to be using as a protein treatment so like once a month.

I have been using henna every week overnight for a while now. I have yet to have any problems..if anything my hair responds very well to it. I condition very often so I think the henna prevents my hair from being over moisturized instead of giving it a protein overload :look:

I'd like to join. I was in a previous ayurveda challenge but I have no idea what happened to that thread. I'm slowly incorporating ayurveda into my routine. I regularly use the oils and a shampoo bar. Just this past weekend I tried henna for the first time. I used the LUSH caca brun.

Hey Ladies, can I please be added to this challenge!? You never know, I might even keep it up for a whole year! I have a few ayurvedic items, and I plan on adding more as time goes on, but for now, Ill be starting slow. My stash is below, and Ill post a starting pic later.

My stash:

POWDERS: Amla, Brhami, Aritha, Tulsi, Lemon (for my skin, Shikaikai, Hibiscus
HERBS: Marshmallow Root, Fenugreek Powder, Slippery Elm Powder ( I dont know what to do with it)
OILS: Coconut, Olive, Shea Butter, Palm
DCS: AOHSR, Giovanni SASDM,

EXTRAS: VO5 Condish (among many others *hee hee*), B&B Castor Oil Lotion, Sta Sof Fro Mix, SheaAloe Mix, Silk Amino Acids, AV Gel, Aphogee Green Tea & Keratin

I would really love some of the shampoo bars. Right now Ive been making my own teas, but its definitely more mess than Id like. Where are you ladies buying yours? Just at the Indian Grocers?? I saw some Ayurvedic cleansing bars at the grocers, but it said for skin use. Is that still ok to use on the hair??

how do you use the lemon peel powder.

okay, you know LUSH is a french brand.
and seriously the name of your soap(i dunno if it a cleanser anyway) the name is SO FUNNY because it does mean "brownish pooh" :spinning: in french language. "caca brun" what the specification of this LUSH product?

interesting.

actually i'm doing a DC-molasses. and wow I luv that stuff, i'm so happy since i have discovered molasses for hair treatment.
i think i'm gonna alternate one week molasses treatment, and one week cassia/amla/brahmi treatment.

this is what i will be using my henna for. my hair is natural and very fine. i co wash pretty often and my hair alays get over moisturized. to prevent that i will be using henna as often as possible.
ive only done henna twice but they were henna glosses and were only left on for an hour.
this weekend will be my first full strength henna. i cant wait.
my last gloss was last thursday i think. i plan on doing a full strngth 1-2x a month and a gloss every week i dont do a full strength. if i feel like my hair doesnt need it that week than i will do an amla paste.

I'm Henna'ing tomorrow, very excited. It's been a while. Other than that I ordered some oils instead of powders, I dont have time to go out and find cheesecloth and strain the stuff, ect.I ordered Amla and Brahmi Oil only. I have yet to post my regimen so I'll do that now.

Wash hair 2x week.
Ayurvedic poo bar gets used each time.
Condition after each wash as usual.
I D/C once per week.
At the end of the month I henna.
Moisturize daily with my PH balanced spritz and seal nightly with my amla and brahmi oil.

Just waiting for my oil to arrive from ayurnatural :)

My goal is soft, supple manageable hair that retains its inches very well.

P.S the point of mixing green tea in henna is for dye release. Acids help with that. I will be mixing my henna with aloe vera juice which is slightly acidic.

I have been keeping up with my weekly ayur-cowashes with kalpi tone, shikakai, amla, and bhringraj powders. I have been alternating the pastes with rinses and they are both doing my hair a whole world of good.

I am due for a moderate protein treatment however. My hair is super soft right now especially since I am doing LadyPanialo's DMM treatment. No breakage though so that's a plus. I watch my hair like a hawk now. Making sure it's not overly moisturized from all the moisturizing treatments or dry from excessive protein use.

Pleeaaaaase share what this DMM is.. I am so eager to know!

So I did an avocado and ayurvedic powder mask on friday and I must say.. My hair is soooo soft. If you ever need a softener that boosts shine, add an avocado.. Make sure that you blend it well though..otherwise you will find yourself rinsing your hair multiple times :/

I think the DMM method is to put your DC mixture in plaited hair, and then seal(yes, seal the DC) with a oil mix(the girl ladypanialo it's not the right name, has a bottle with 1/3 water and the rest is oil(infusium etc) and you don't rinse out this.
you leave the DC and the sealing in your hair. and you do this weekly(your hair has to be hiden under wig.)
i think i will have too much grease in my hair..
i'm so in a hurry to be at the end of 2011, i'm so consistent and happy with these ca

I'm here!! I have a question.. rather, a problem with single strand knots and pulling them out of my hair.. how do I make them disappear!?!

Aggie

^^^I think you have to trim single strand knots away once they form in your hair but not absolutley sure though. I haven't seen them in my hair since I texlaxed 7 weeks and 4 days ago. My hair still has a lot of texture in it but no more SSKs:look:. I don't know if the texlax helped but I am happy I don't see any of them anymore. They were becoming a menace to me.

By the way, I am still giving myself bi-weekly ayur-cowashes and loving how thick and healthy my hair is looking.

Wonderful thread ladies! I'm new to the world of ayurvedics.. I have been very curious about the oils and powders but I was afraid to try them because of the horror stories from others. I'm still a bit nervous but I have Kapi Tone on at this very moment. I can't wait to see the results. I plan to shampoo and and deep condition afterward. I'm kinda "winging" this thing.. (suggestions would be greatly appreciated.)

^^^So sorry CheB, I have never infused any type of oil but I think FL might might know how to do it.

I did my ayur-tea rinse this morning with Bhringraj, amla, brahmi, and kalpi tone, left it on for 10 minutes while I showered. I then rinsed it out using Jason Naturals Jojoba Conditioner and left some Jason Naturals Biotin Thin to Thick Conditioner in it, sealed with oil and went about my day in a wash and go. It was soooooo soft:lick:.
