Detangling Dry Matted 4b/c Tailbone Length Hair

My hair is not as nearly as long as hers and I feel really ashamed ripping through it. I don't have a stream so I'm wondering can I get the same effect going under the dryer with a plastic cap...:scratchchin:

I think you can. I think it is really all about a good slip conditioner. I usually dc prior to shampooing with a plastic cap and sometimes use heat. This essentially makes my tangles disappear by the time I get in the shower under running water.

@MileHighDiva,
Thank you for posting this. I had seen this and could not figure out what she was using. I thought it was so cute! She's not using a handheld HAIR steamer. She is using a TEXTILE/FABRIC/GARMENT STEAMER!

This makes so much sense. The hair care industry originated from the textile industry. After the wool industry lost out to polyester, the scientific knowledge and money gravitated toward the hair industry. Now, I have to go into the, "What did LHCF make you buy," thread.

I found a cute portable, hand held clothes steamer. There are some fabulous ones in the US but I can't them here.

Efficiently Natural is using a Conair steamer. I LOVE it :love4: and it is so cute, but it is not available here. Here is the link on Amazon:

Yep! It makes great sense and I've, been meaning to purchase one.

@MileHighDiva :cry3: your making me realize it's not happening fast enough.
I keep posting her videos for inspiration, not comparison. She's been transitioning etc, since 2009.

I figure if she can do it with 4C hair then I should be able to do it. I was starting to feel like I'm at terminal retention, not terminal growth.

Viewing her videos remind me that low manipulation wins the race.

However, I'd never use a blow fryer to keep my hair stretched. My fine strands don't like them :nono:

@MileHighDiva dedinitely not comparing, she is major inspiration. I've realized I do many of the things she does, and it makes me feel good that I barely watch YT videos, but have somehow managed to come to these conclusions on my own. I mean, thanks you LHCF and research, but to know I'm on the right track on my own makes a huge difference.

One Day! We will be there.

I was just thinking....awwww where did she find that little mini hair steamer. I'm in a smaller space and on the road and love the idea of a 2/1. Lmao. So mad I didn't think of using a fabric steamer. Anyway, added it to my cart. Lol

@intellectualuva,
Yeah! Congratulations on your location independence as well! In another thread, I'd love to learn and hear how you did it. I am sure you have some golden nuggets of wisdom to share with us, especially since your namesake is intellectualuva, too.

Thanks. :kiss: Not sure if I have any wisdom as I was very lucky with my timing. However, Im happy to share some ways to be crafty. I was going to start a thread at some point or bump up an old one to discuss and share tips. Give me a few days. I'll tag you on it.

I just subscribed to her channel. She looks so much like Jennifer Hudson. I do the same detangling technique; sans steamer. I will def purchase a steamer. Before using this detangling technique, I used to just rip through dry hair. Now I always detangle with either water or conditioner or both.

ETA: Just re-watched the video and she mentions that she starts to finger detangle on the ends first. I don't think that I do that; but will def start now

I have the Conair steamer.

I'm :lachen:because it's excellent for travel and really works. I'm looking at it now, thinking, baby, mama got some plans for you!

I got mine at Bed, Bath & Beyond. It's cheaper at Amazon. I think it's worth the investment for clothes and now hair!

It's official: a testimony and a formal stamp of approval from our very own @Tefnut!

My steamer came yesterday! I don't own the cuteness that is Conair. I do like the one I selected. It's still in the box.

I haven't been able to get to my hair to wash it until today anyway. It's good timing!

Glad you like the one you have. Look forward to hearing how it works on your hair.

I love the Conair for my clothes. It's pretty good and easy to pack in my suitcase. I'll try using it on my hair over the next week or so. :yay:
