I know I'm kinda late in that game for a challenge, but I was looking at Babygurls album, http://public.fotki.com/BabygurlNC/ , and I am soooo inspired by the amount of length she retained and I have decided to start my own bun challenge. Anyone out there wanting to join in. Today will be my start date, but my end date will be when my hair gets to the length I want it. I will do an update picture every couple on months to show my progress. I am going to wash and deep condition every 3 days faithfully and then its back to the bun. Wish me luck!!!

Picture of my new bun.LOL!!!

What's interesting is I was thinking about doing a bun challenge for the next 6 months instead of weaving. (I was reading Isis' album and she did a bun challenge for 6 months). Anyway, count me in for 2 months - I may go longer - idk.

I'll join, i plan to do this for 6 months, i'm hoping to reach waistlength, i know it may seem like a far fetched goal, since i'm only at bra-strap, but i want this so badly, because i've cut my hair like 50 times in the past few years, and i'm finally pleased with my hair now. wish me luck, see my journal for regi.

I'm with you. I started back bunning a week ago and I realise that I don't have to touch my bun if I don't want to. It can stay like that for a day or two until it gets fuzzy, and when it's time to moisturise, I do the top and the back of my hair and the ends. Very low manipulation, no combing, no brushing. I'm on it 'til next retouch.

Babygurl inspired me as well. I'm so in. Is anyone following babygurls routine of washing ad deep conditioning every 3-4 days and then bunning? I'm not currently doing that since I got my hair pressed and I plan on wearing this press for the next two weeks. After that I will be following Babygurl's entire regimen. I need to even my ends out.

I am so in.

I started bunning (lol) last week. I have been inspired by Southern Tease and her daily co-wash so I started co-washing every other day and DC once a week. With all the co-washing the bun is the best style. little munipulation and less stress.

Besides this was one of my staple hairstyles while in college and I didn't realize the benefit until now.

I have been bunning since I started HYH Challenges. I will join this Challenge. I think bunning adds healthy looking hair and retain amazing lenght. HHG

Ashmack, Your hair is gorgeous. Whats your hair type???

I'm sooo excited. Its hard for me to stick with anything and especially when it come to my hair, Its hard for me to keep my hands out of it. So I'm glad I have some support here. Should we set dates to post pics or what. I'd like to show my progress during Christmas and wear my hair out for a couple of days. I'll plan to do my retouch that week. Anyone else??? After that, its back to bunning!!!

I'm in! I bun everyday during the week anyway so this wont be too hard for me to do. I'm still rollersettting on some weekends though, but I'll only wear my hair down Saturdays and Sundays.

I like to wear my phony bun and baggy underneath. My hair stays moisturized and I never have to comb my ends to acheive this style. I have the advantage of not combing my hair Monday-Friday! At the end of the week can I see a difference in my hair due to the no-manipulation during the week. I Love the instant results!!!!:yep:

So you guys are bunning without using one of those donut things or the sock bun thing? Hummm I might have to get in on this. I used to bun with the sock bun but it broke my ends, even when I covered it with saran wrap. But I don't like the look of my bun with my hair without a filler. Might have to start practicing but I love the idea of washing and dcin'g 2x a week and wearing buns.

Thanks sweetie. I am not sure what my hair type is. I have been saying it's 4a, although I really don't know for sure. None of the descriptions seem to describe my hair. I am transitioning though and have been for about 6 months now.

I would consider wearing a bun several times/week during the upcoming winter months to protect my hair. I think I will have to switch it up on the off days though, because I need some variety in my life...I've seen too many people *snap* :pullhair:after wearing the same hairstyle for too long :nono:.

Yes, her regimen is quite simple to follow. It's the Cathy Howse method. I've been doing it since I started my journey. I wash on Wednesdays and Sundays, dc w/heat at every wash. Added to this would be the bunning most of the time like I did before and my lo mani. Hair care has never been simpler...

Progress pics in December is a good idea after our retouches. Our hair should be looking good for the holidays.

Cool. I do this anyway but my discipline will come from washing 2X a week. But Im excited!!! I think Ill do six months as well. I kind of have this whole six month complete makeover challenge in my mind, so i can just bun it up while im tearing it up in the gym!!! :drunk::drunk:

I think I'm gonna join! I am trying to reach BSL by 12/31, so this should help.

My current regimen is wash and DC Saturday morning, and CW twice a week. I may switch that up, if needed.

Count me in too! I saw another thread about a magicbun hair tool by Scrunci and it helps you make a cute bun in like 3 seconds! No pins, ponytail holders and no tightness!! They sell them at Rite Aid and Claire's for under $4. I love them!! I'm going to bun 7 days a week (except for when I go out for special occations) I love the Wed & Fri conditioning days. I have a problem finding the time, Wed isn't too bad and Sun is a perfect day for it =) Thanks for the idea Honey A!

I know that I can do this. I wear my hair in buns 99.9% of the time. That's daily! :yep: The only time when it's not in the bun is at night when I moisturize, seal and put in a silk scarf. Now that I'm advanced in my stretch, bunning is really the only way I can wear it right now. The only exception is that I will be attending a wedding in mid-November. I am already planning to use some direct heat for straightening. I don't really want to do that, but it's a special occasion. Other than that, I will definitely be wearing my buns, much to the dismay of most people here at work. The good news: I hope to shock everyone with some length, health progress in December. I can't wait.

Bought that baby last month during Claire's BOGO 1/2 off sale. It IS extremely easy to use. I've been 'wiggin' it this week and really loving the easy of hiding my hair while still 'showing' some hair! :look::grin:

I'll do the bun and wig alternately. Every 3-4 days seems to give you 2 washings 1 week and 3 washings the next week. I'm opting for 3 cuz I LOOOVE wetting my hair! :ohwell: I'll do a CW on Sun., and shampoo on Wed. & Sat. All with a 20-30 minute DC with heat to follow! :yep:
