Natural hair confessions

I'm definitely happy to be natural again, but I sometimes get bummed out for having such short hair. Last year I reached BSL, slapped a relaxer on, and BC'd less than 2 months later. Hard not to beat myself up for it, cuz I probably would've been MBL by now. And now that my hair is so short, I sometimes get the urge to flat iron, just to have more length-- even though I prefer my natural texture.

My natural hair makes me feel free, but sometimes, a little impatient, and a little resigned that shrinkage combined with my inability and lack of desire to deal with much more than BSL hair will ultimately stymie my length goals for my hair in it natural curly state. I still love it though.

I confess that I like shrinkage. No, seriously. :look: I didn't always like it, but I don't know that my hair would have grown to the lengths it has without shrinkage. Shrinkage is my hair's natural protective style.

Currently, my hair is maybe a bit past waist length (the straight hair pic in my siggy is 7 months old, so it's been awhile since I've straightened my hair) and it still shrinks up to shoulder length when curly. On the plus side, shrinkage keeps my hair from rubbing against my clothes too much and it seems like less of a hassle to deal with shoulder length curly hair. Plus, my hair is mundane from day-to-day (in my opinion), since I mostly wear buns and ponytails. I like the dramatic transformation my hair can make when going from curly to straight. Even people who have known me for years can't get over the difference. :lachen:

I agree with the shrinkage some of the time because I wouldn't want my ends on my clothes either lol. So I'm enjoying my hair at its current length.

My natural hair is such a joy, and a torment all mixed up in one. I love that it's growing so well, but I am so dissatisfied with the 3a parts...I always wanted fat clumping curls, but noooo. I want it to get thicker, and grow down to my butt...but when it's time to twist it up after washing it, I miss the days when I was relaxed, and could just wrap it up in minutes and go to bed. Most of all I just love the way it looks after a Curlformers set, and that it's really healthy right now....even though it won't clump for me...

Although I do wash and style my own hair, I wish at times I could sit in a chair and have someone else wash and style for me.

I feel u on that!!!!

I hate having to hide my hair to retain length. I hate that my true length is hidden and I especially hate feeling like I can't wear my hair the way I want.:cry3: I plan on enjoying my hair from this time onwards.:yep:

My natural hair makes me feel beautiful, authentic, and when I wear it out (coily or straight) sexy.

I confess that I've been watching a lot of Devachan cut videos.

But I will stay the course.

I have a love/hate relationship with shrinkage. My only "style" is washngo hair. So my hair is always shrunken. I would love to bun but can only do that safely :giggle: on stretched hair. I don't like stretched hair bc I prefer my natural curl pattern to show. I know Imma mess :spinning:.

I realized I don't have much shrinkage which I like. I dont wear my hair out often. I'm staying committed to growing it out via p.s & k.i.s.s. Sticking to the plan has been fairly easy.
Two set backs one of then huge but thats just a lesson learned. Stick to what I know works for ME!!

I think I look sooo much better with natural hair, and I know I've come a long way from my shaved, damn near bald BC last July, I'm 3 1/2 to 4 inches now, but... I'll be glad when I have more hair! I'm running out of options!

I refuse to use heat right now. No matter what. I've got some goals to reach first.

My natural hair makes me feel creative, and strong. I go into meetings with a mentality of "I have the most fly hair in this place, and it's mine, and I did it, and it's something I do well". It's like my ace in the hole--if everything else is jacked, whelp, all I need to calm myself down is a niiiiiiiiiiice long DC, some bobby pins, and a silk scarf, and the next day will start off wonderfully, if nothing else.

My natural hair makes me not trust anyone else with it .

I confess that I haven't worn anything on my head to bed (like a scarf) for the past 3 days. And I'm not going too tonight, either lol. I'm very hair lazy these days.

I will confess that I love how my big hair grabs all the attention in the room. I love how soft it looks and feels. I love when people ask me about my hair.

I wish my hair was longer so it could frame my face like it does when it's straight. I am also very hair lazy. I do the very minimum and I should probably wear a scarf to bed more often...

I wish all the awesome hair products that are out now were out when I was sixteen, and trying to figure out what the hell to do with my hair.
