2009 MBL Challenge Update Thread #3

All righy!!! This is the second half of the year, and only one person on the challenge has hit MBL (that I noticed). IF you've reached your goal, please PM me so I can put a next to your name and we can all with you!!!

Please use this thread to post your updates. As I noted in the first update thread, I will post a new thread each quarter to keep the MBL 2009 thread from getting too big. The next thread will be posted in October.

Checking in! I haven't been straightening so I couldn't say where exactly I'm at. When I last checked (two months ago) I was about 2 in. away from BSL, but I do plan to straighten in 4 wks and will post progress pics.

i'm going to post my update later today on my blog. judging from my pics it doesn't look like i got much growth even though i FEEL like my hair is longer and it looks longer to me...but i'm pluggin' along...

I'm still hanging in there. I'm 8 weeks post and have seriously started incorporating regular bunning. I'm determined to break my BSL plateau!

I will submit pics as I soon as I relax next week.

I have upped my ayurvedic regi. Tea rinses every other day and co-washing on the opposite days. Will post a new pic in a couple of weeks. Getting a relaxer on the 15th.

I'm getting there. I got a trim in June and I was grazing BSL. I don't know where I am right now because I'm 12 weeks posts and my shrinkage is unbelievable!!! And I am participating in the Hide Your Hair challenge so I'm not sure if I will update before December

Don't think I'm gonna make it this year. My postpartum shedding has been tangling up in my ends. I've been constantly snipping ends for many months now. My new goal is 2010, hopefully the shedding would have stopped by then. I am toying with the idea of stretching for about 4 months, which ends this August, and cutting off a good portion to start fresh. Good luck to the rest of you ladies.

awwwww, esquire i'm sorry to hear that! i had post partum shedding REAL bad after dd#2 was born...rest assured, it DOES stop so just hang in there hun.

My pp shedding was sooo bad I was losing sooo much hair...But thank god it eventually stopped!!!

I am so hoping for mbl hair by december!!!

My hair is set in a twist out and I don't want to disturb it. But the next time I wash, I'll comb out and oil a section and do a length shot. I think I'm mid-way on my bra band or just below it.

I think I may be there by OCt or by the end of the year...last time I check I was close to bra strap maybe .5 inch to bsl....i'm realy busy now and will be even busier until the end of the year...so i prob will be wearing wigs and maybe sew ins until the end of the year..i'll do a length check next week..

Ok, here's my update pic. Not much to be excited about with this one. Like I said earlier, I'm a bit shocked and disappointed with my progress pics because I KNOW that my hair grew. How can I be so sure when the pics tell a different story?

1. I can tell when my hair grows by the roots of my grays. I henna once a month and since last month I can clearly see at least a half inch of gray below the red.

2. My hair was brushing parts of my body it's never brushed before.

3. (and this is probably the most confirming factor ) my husband told me how long my hair is and so did others close to me...

BUT for now, we'll go by the pics and even though there's no difference in length, I can definitely see a difference in thickness (which is probably attributed to my being more than 6 months post )

Anywho, congrats to those who've made it and good luck to the rest of us!

That's what i was thinking. LHDC, i think you'll be able to see better results once you relax.

LHDC, thanks. I'm encouraged by hearing yours stopped.

Sucks, man! I was well on my way too. I was passed BSL when I gave birth a year ago, and was on my way to MBL, but after many trims I am above BSL now. And will probably continue the trims out of necessity.

Health before length, is my motto for the remainder of the year.

But I'll keep an eye on all of you ladies to stay positive. Good luck to all of you!

nothing spectaculat here. i would be closer if its wasnt for my manic trimming to get rid of A LOT of the damaged relaxed ends. but i am a smidgeon passed APL right now. but anything is possible. so my fingers are still crossed for MBL by 11:59:59PM on December 31st. lol

There's someone here who has a pic of their hair before relaxing and after and because of the shrinkage her hair looks like 4 inches longer in the after picture.
