I loved Motions Oil Lye, but several hair dressers have told me that it can wreak havoc on the hair over the long haul, so I'm giving it up. I'll probably be switching to Affirm Lye.

what are the long term effects of motions lye? i have only tried it once and i already want to switch. it was fine when i first had it but after the third week my hair was acting like it needed a touchup. i was wondering if this was the effects they mentioned? God bless you all.

One hair dresser told me that it dries out the scalp and can cause follicle damage! He said he's had several clients come to him with hair that's falling out, and bald patches, and they all had been using Motions. He called it "evil". /images/graemlins/laugh.gif Another told me that it thins out the hair eventually. I've only used it once, and it worked well for me, but I don't want to take any chances.

/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /images/graemlins/shocked.gif oh my!!! i just switched from no lye to lye so i only had one touchup and then i just went into braids. i was actually worried before i got my relaxer that i was doing it too late and my hair would be too straight for the braids. but with the motions that was not even an issue which made me question it a bit and when i saw others had the same problem i thought maybe i should give another lye relaxer a shot. i wanted to try affirm the next go around since it has been successful for so many. o/t i have seen so many ladies here mention aubrey's gpb which is so strange because i have had in my closet for years yet i tried it once but never followed with a moisturizing conditioner so that could be why i only used it once. i may have to go search for it.
