~~*October 2008-Hits and Misses*~~

Possible hit (it's a lil early to tell) - Silken Child Moisturizer by Silk Elements. Smells really nice, it's light and my hair feels really soft. My hair still has a lot of movement even after wrapping, so that's a very good thing; most moisturizers weigh my hair down super fast.

Hopefully it will keep working.

Oooh, I am so sorry to hear this... I love, love, love Surya leave-ins. Well, I didn't love the acai and the brazil nut leave-ins, but the color fixation with buriti oil and the volume reducer with tucuma butter leave-ins are wonderful -- and thick, too. I mix them together, but separately they are wonderful as well. Which one did you try? After all the millions of leave-ins I have tried from very cheap to very expensive, these two are the absolute best and my most favorite, even better than the MOP, which is the only other leave-in that works well for me. I need to take the ABBA nourish out of my siggy because it worked for a hot minute and then stopped, but it does work sort of as a cream rinse after co-washing. I run some through my hair and let stay on for about five minutes and then rinse with cool water. As I was using my beloved Surya last night, from which I never should have strayed, I was thinking of stocking up.

Another another, Surya Henna Leave-in.

I bought it today and tried it today - HORRIBLE. It was like putting water on my hair as a leave-in.

I realize I need thick creamy leave-ins. This may be good as a co-wash product though, so all may not be lost. We will see. I will try to cowash with it sometime soon.

Hits: Hairveda Vatika Frosting (I've not tried the sitrinaliah? conditioner yet) and Soft sheen carson weave care detangler

Yeah, it was watery for me – like Suave or VO5 condtioner. I am used to Qhemet olive Detangler, a thick rich cream. Maybe I will revisit it. I don’t want it to go to waste.

About the Abba  I have a big liter of that collecting dust somewhere in the house. Did not care for that either.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE WEN. I've been using the FIG cleansing conditioner for 2 weeks and ladies, honestly, I can feel the difference in my hair.

Honeydew: The Surya should work well for CO-washing because it detangles and softens wonderfully...

I was reading them this morning and couldn't believe how many wonderful ingredient it contains and I only paid $6.76 for each bottle.

MISS: hairveda sitrinilla mask. this did nothing for my hair. i sat with heat for about 40 minutes and it was like i did nothing at all.

HIT: i think i love jane carter's nourish and shine. it did instantly give my hair shine and i love the fact that its all natural and it feels like a butter rather than a lotion. but i dont like the fact that there is no water in it.
is that a problem?

I'll just add my own water :drunk:

where do you get jane carter's nourish and shine from? I need shine in my life

ED, say it ain't so !!!!!

On the fence: Cowboy Magic Rosewater Conditioner. The jury is still out on this one. I used it to cowash yesterday afternoon after rinsing out my MT and while my hair is soft, I don't know if I can attribute that to this product or my CoCasta/JBCO mixture. Admittedly, I did feel instant slip and softness on the finer parts of my hair i.e., my 3bish crown but the thicker 3c and the 4a patch, Ionknow....I'll update later.

Girl I know!!I ordered and had it sent to my moms and waited dang near a month to try it(I'm at school).I used it with 30 minutes under the dryer and it just didn't do anything.I just need an unbelievable amount of moisture in my DC's .I love the smell though.

I was hoping it would work too-I need a good DC

I had the same experience.Sorry to hear that:sad:

^^^^^ im thinking of giving it away. like you said i need ALOT of moisture and that just aint where its at for me. made me sad cause i really wanted it to work.

Miss: None so far

Revisited hit: Elasta QP's Intense Conditioner, and Recovery Oil Moisturizer, don't know why I stopped using these but I've gone back to Elasta and I'm loving it.

Have either of you tried mixing it with anything else? Just curious.
i mixed mine with honey and coconut oil a while ago and it made my hair feel funny but i deep conditioned on dy hair then so i thought that was the problem.
usually coconut oil and honey makes almost any deep conditioner amazing on my hair. it worked for kenra mc and i hated that stuff. so idk.

Abba creme masque-for color treated hair. I got this deep treatment from Marshalls-they have changed the packaging (which is why its @ Marshalls) but it's the same formula. I leave it on for 25 mins. and my hair feels really well conditioned.

Keep it simple sista K.I.S.S-->Traycee's simple and signature buns. I never thought I could do her buns on my hair cause
1) my hair is natural 4a.4b
2) my hair is shorter, fine & thin.
But I decided to give it try and I love it. My buns look full without me adding a donut or anything. I got really good results and as my hair grows, I excited to see how it will look. K.I.S.S has great tips & tutorials!

Curlformers: AWESOME on 4a/4b natural hair. I've decided to use these 1x per week. They give me the stretched out hair I want rather quickly, it's easy to put in, and I get an effortless style.

Prepoo conditioner/rosemary & peppermint essential oils. Love the tingle!--> Another tip from K.I.S.S

MOP leave in-the best leave in and detangler

PM Supercharged Moisturizer
Aveda DR shampoo
Shescentit moisture mist

I really love this one, too. It smells great.

I don't like how ABBA made their bottles smaller and increased the price. :look: I am going to use what I have, buy when I see it at places like Marshalls and stop using it. Even on Ebay the "new" bottle designs are more expensive than the older ones. That's okay, too because I can get a lot of it so much cheaper for now.

By the way, anyone in Columbia, MD Tuesday Morning has liters of the Nourishing conditioner, Complete shampoo, and Volumizing shampoo (I am going to get this one myself) for $9.99! They have gallon jugs of the Volumizing shampoo for $19.99.

HoneyDew- I did not know that they increased the prices of the new packaged bottles-and I was going to make this a permanent DC in my regimen. I should have stocked up when there were tons of bottles at Marshalls-oh well.

Another
HIT: Devacare one condition as a DC- leaves my hair soft and well conditioned. I'm not too fond of the orange smell but it isn't super horrible and it fades away.
The one downside is the price. I think it was like $17, but I had my $5 off ulta card. With the way I like to saturate my hair with DC, I know this isn't affordable for me right now. Ill buy again when ulta has good coupons

Girl, I see great deals on ebay for it all the time. People sell 3, 6 and more bottle lots at good prices.

Maybe the new ones are not more expensive retail. I think I just always default to Ebay thought. On ebay the newly designed bottles are so much more expensive for the same product.

It may not be so bad at places like Trade Secret and Beauty First.

MISS:

ugh - Alba Botanicals leave in conditioner. My hair dried with NO shine when I used that stuff. I ended up keeping it real and washing it out and going back to my Qhemet leave in.

The alba made my hair soft, but with no shine - AT ALL. It is more of a rinse-out CONDITIONER and not a leave in. I am going to try it one day as a conditioner rinse and see how that works.

Miss: Hairveda Sitrinillah Conditioner smells great but not moisture for me

On the Fence:
Hairveda Vatika Oil I swear sometimes the yummy smell mixed with my hair and I smell bacon grease, yeah weird I know.

Hit: Aussie 3 minute miracle deep conditioning. This is great for my patch in the back that is very very dry.

Continued Hit: Chi silk infusion, great for detangling my hair
