July 2016: Hits & Misses

Hit: Framesi Color Lover Moisture Rich Masque

Even though Komaza's Protein treatment worked for my hair, it didn't create that curl popping effect I usually like. The only time I experienced that with any protein treatment was with Aveda Damage Remedy Intensive Treatment. But Aveda may have changed the formula or something, because it didn't produce similar results when I bought a new 5 ounce a year later. And the price was getting too steep for me to not get the results I wanted.

I peeped that the key ingredient in the Aveda was "quinoa protein" so I did a Google search and came across Framesi. I was able to find it at Ricky's for 9.95 for a 16 oz, much better than the price they were calling for at different online vendors. Ricky's customer service tried to tell me that it was only available for hair professionals, but I wasn't hearing it, lol.

I was able to try this product last weekend, and its a total hit. My curls are popping, my hair feels ridiculously soft and strong. I cannot explain it, but my strands seemed to have thickened up and looks much more shiny. My hair is smoooottthhh. No fly-aways. I went back to buy two more 16 ounces at the $9.95 price tag. I did peep that the product has cones in it :(, but its further down in the list of ingredients so that didn't dissuade me from purchasing.

Here are the list of ingredients: ALL COLOR LOVER FORMULAS ARE: 100% vegan, Sulfate-Free, Paraben-Free, Gluten-Free, DEA free, Sodium chloride free, Powerful anti-aging properties, Thermal & UV protectants, Weightless, Will not build up.

Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Lauryl Alcohol, Hydrolyzed Quinoa, Superoxide Dismutase, Silk Amino Acids, Vinifera Fruit Cell Extract, Cocos Nucifera Oil, Panthenol, Oryza Sativa Bran Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbic Acid, Saccharomyces Magnewium FermentHydrolsate, Saccharomyces Potassium Ferment Hydrolysate, Adenosine Triphosphate, Propanediol, Silicone Quaternium-16, Bis-Diisopropanolamino-PG-Propyl Dimethicone/Bis-Isobutyl PEG-14 Copolymer, Quaternium-95, Undeceth-11, Fragrance, Butyoctanol, Dimethicone, Undeceth-5, Polysorbate-20, Citric Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, BCC12-Base

On the Fence: Mielle's Organics Babassu Oil and Mint Deep Conditioner

Likely won't be repurchasing, both for the price and the fact that I found a better DC and protein treatment for my hair, but it does appear to strengthen my strands and reduce shedding. Maybe I'll just have it in the stash if I'm experiencing excessive shedding.

You know you wrong for doing this to me right @Rastafarai? Darn it! Just one more item to add to my list:nono:. Jeesh!!!

I gatta stop reading your product reviews. Sigh!!!

I have to come into this thread like this or risk losing ALL my money:

Who's the vendor?

@Dayjoy
Honey's Handmades.

What's so troubling for me, is the fact that she said lost my package during her move and then she found it. So, what was the purpose of the Ship Notice?

I took her almost a week to respond when I told her the package had not moved.

She just recently came off my "Never Again" list. But with this latest antic, I see she put herself right back on it. Whether the products finally arrive or I am issued a refund, I am done with this vendor for good this time.

This vendor just isn't for me. Most bad vendors quickly slip back into bad behavior.

That's too bad. It's hard to come back from poor service.

Camille Rose Naturals Curlaide Moisture Butter. But we already knew this.

So, it contains Shea butter. Now, so does Bekura Honey Latte, but it actually works good. So I took a chance. I used leave in, then applied the Curlaide, then castor oil. It goes on nice and my curls really were popping. But Shea butter was still just "sitting" there.

The next morning, the dryer parts of my hair (mostly the front) were hard due to the Shea but the parts that were still wet were all soft. Curls still poppin. Hair still soft but with too much buildup. Also, the butter was still just "sitting" there. When I put my bun up, my hair literally looked white and ashy.

Today, I went to put my hair in a bun. No more white hair for the bun hair, but after applying gel, my hair had the white product build up look to it. And y'all know I use voodoo Wetline and that stuff has never left me this sad.

Gave the jar away.

It is a miss for me, but if your hair can tolerate Shea, go for it. I'm not totally mad because Almond Jai is my jam, but I fell this one does hold moisture better.

Someone in my Facebook group loves her, always post her sales. I've inquired about her customer service. Person said they never had an issue, just had to wait for the product because it's "handmade". To give her a chance.

I told her that's not the question I asked and went around the bush to tell her "I don't believe you, you need more people!" As I've heard otherwise. I felt like a bully but I have not seen another promotion.

@Saludable84 @Dayjoy
I had an issue with her several years ago that resulted in a PP Dispute.

After that whole incident, she made it on my personal "Never Again" along with two others.

Recently, all three of them have gradually made their way back where I felt comfortable enough ordering from them again, based on LHCF reviews, sales, etc......

But after this Shenanigan, she is right back there. :angry2:

APB Refresher sprays!!! Yes, I know many of you have been sanging the praises for a while. I've been using this for a while but was underwhelmed until today. My UFD's wash n go was looking a little fuzzy and feeling a tad still. So I sprayed the refresher on and my curls/coils instantly softened up without frizz or losing definition. I've never seen such with my own hair. My hair is really looking and feeling moisturized. I am impressed.

Aquaphor to seal in moisture :look: This stuff is keeping my hair so soft and moisturized. I've tried straight grease, Vaseline, natural butters, oils, and everything under the sun as a sealant but this feels so different.

Oh no! I'm sorry your hair doesn't like the Curlaide Moisture Butter. I am about to crack that one open too so I'll update on how my hair responds to it.

When I used it the same way this past weekend on my puff I had the same reaction.

Learning that my technique for applying curl cream, pudding or lotion needs work. I've finally figured out that my hair has grown enough that I need to use MORE smaller sections to ensure even application of products instead of the standard 4 quadrants.

Miss:
Products like Carols Daughter hair milk pudding. The hair looks ok the first day but has horrible buildup which feels like like balls and leaves the hair feeding coated. I always feel like I want to wash my hair immediately after the first day with a product like this.

Also, my hair at that awkward point again where now that it has a little length, it's rubbing my clothing in its shrunken state. I need to find another style because wash n go's have become the debil again.

Honey Handmade's terrible customer service.

I purchased 2 of the Sugar Honey Iced Tea Oils during her 50% off sale, which was around Memorial Day. About a week later, I received the 1st one, with a packing slip that said that the 2nd was on backorder. Since there was nothing else listed and I did not get amy messages about a backorder, I reached out to confirm and was told that they ran out of the oils needed and that it would go out a week later. A week passes and I still don't hear anything so I reach out twice and still don't hear anything at all. I sent another message (now almost a month later) and received a response a few days after that saying that they were traveling which is what caused the delay and that it would be sent out soon. I just received it yesterday 7/11. :angry2:

ETA
PS no apologies or thanks for your wait and no expectations were set upfront that the order would be delayed over a month.
