July 2016: Hits & Misses

Hmmmm, maybe I got a bad batch or something because it did not have enough slip for me. Or maybe my hair is just nappy as hell :lachen:. I do loooove the smell and it did make my hair soft so if CM has that Gray Friday sale with $5.00 shipping it may be worth another shot.

@IDareT'sHair used the other one, deep fix I think. I haven't tried because it looked too hard for my hair, but maybe try that one. @AgeinATL I was scared of the AVJ as well, and it did smooth (its not that low) but it was tolerable smoothing. Thats the only thing that made or breaks the Hit or Miss. When I applied, it soaked in so well I was tempted to leave it in and not rinse. Maybe next time :look:

Hit: Sheamoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Leave in.
Not the biggest fan of the smell (almost nutty?) but the shine and moisture is impeccable. It's really helped with managing my coarse crown hairs and helped with smoothing down my heat/bleach damaged ends.

Miss:
Rose water. Smells nice but hasn't made a noticeable difference in moisturizing, at least not when compared to AVJ or glycerin. Maybe it's the Heritage brand I purchased?

Yes, the Deep Fix was nice. I'm beginning to think maybe my hair felt like that upon application because of the AVJ? Hmmm, cuticle closing...it all makes sense now @AgeinATL . When I sat up under the dryer upon application, my cuticles opened up so that's why it made it so soft.

My hair is kind of fickle with aloe vera. That's why I love this board, things that make you go hmmmmm...

Yeah, I was skeptical with the AVJ but lately I've been seeing my hair tolerates it depending on the formula. I would have to go through my stash to tell you what it likes and didn't like.

@AgeinATL Hmmm.. Interesting :scratchchin:.I hope this works for my hair. AVJ is a hit or miss for my hair depending on what other ingredients it's mixed with. My natural hair is normal/low porosity I believe, but my relaxed ends are high porosity.

Same for me but when it is in the first 3 ingredients, it is usually a miss for my hair. I hope it works for you though!

NEW HIT:

Naturelle Grow Soft & Silky Leave-in Conditioner - I used this tonight as a moisturizer and let me tell you, my hair feels so soft and silky just like the name says. Plus my hair is actually moisturized:drool:, no chaser ie, oil to seal. I didn't feel like I needed to seal it.

But I know my hair, it loves that buttery feeling of a sealant so tonight I won't seal, but tomorrow I probably will. Additionally my curls are defined as well - and that's another plus:yep: :lick:.

Hit: Brocato and Abba conditioners.

Both have made my hair so soft and shiny with minimal hair shed/breakage. The Abba Color Protect Conditioner has amazing slip in the shower. Good stuff all around. I bought the Brocato Daily Conditioner and it was amazing after I blow dried. I didn't think too highly of it while I was in the shower but when I blow dried my hair it was so soft and so full of body. I used the Cloud 9 Miracle Treatment before but that was more than 5 years ago now and I think I'll revisit it.

Hmmm,

I have a Brocato conditioner but I can't remember which one. I need to go dig that one up and use it. I have not even used it yet but I have had it for a while - I think almost a year. I really have too many products - I can't even keep up with them, :nono:Smh!

Well.. I'll be looking for your reviews every time you find a new something or the other to use  Ya'll are my go to when I start researching products so when you use stuff from your stores stashes I'm always looking forward to it :look:

Hit: Luster Pink Shea Butter and Coconut Oil Moisturizing & Silkening Conditioner - smells great, it's cheap, has pretty decent slip (not as good slip at the Pantene Truly Natural Deep Conditioner, which I think they replaced with the Curl Defining Conditioner), and is super moisturizing! It saved my hair after the miss which I will mention next

Miss: Beautiful Textures Rapid Deep Conditioner - not moisturizing enough for me. It wasn't terrible, but I'm annoyed because I put something back that I know would have worked for me because I've used it before (Rolland UNA Moisturizing Masque) for this. I still have about 2 uses left, but I won't repurchase, because it was just meh. I wanted something moisturizing, because I clarified my hair yesterday and did a protein treatment, but this just didn't meet the mark. I will try the Profectiv Mega Growth Anti breakage Strengthening Deep Conditioner next.

Hit: Beautiful Textures Leave in Conditioner and Curl Defining Mousse - these products are AWESOME for the kinky curly hair I bought to make a wig. I put this on the wig to define the curls, and the combo gives great hold, but touchable softness. The leave in conditioner helped soften the hair, while the mousse stretched the curls and reduced frizz without crunchiness.

Washing my hair in sections.... from beginning to end.....pre poo, wash and deep conditioner. Courtesy of my new muse, you tube's Carib Curls.

I feel my hair got better attention section by section...

Hit:

Finally perfecting doing two braids in my hair. Took me forever to get it right

Pic of style I'm referring to

HITS:

NG Soft & Silky Leave-in Conditioner. This definitely gets absorbed into the hair very quickly but I found that it needs a sealant to hold it in there longer. I am not thinking of repurchasing it at this moment. I need to sink my hair in some APB leave-ins first, then we shall see:look:.

Even better than the NG S&S Leave in is Bekura's Honey Latte (Nectarine Vanilla) Detangling Hair Milk. Now this stuff is "bae" for my hair.

I really love how soft it leaves my hair, plus it does allow easy detangling. I am repurchasing this one. My hair appreciates milks and moisturizers that are very emollient and this one is definitely that:yep:.

New Hits:
KeraVada HydroMax - very moisturizing, great slip for detangling
KeraVada Creme Brulee - moisturizing and gave my hair great definition

Continued Hits:
- Using 6 sections vs. 4 sections when washing/conditioning.
- Not getting in and out of the shower. I wash, condition & detangle in the shower.

Ain't been on the forums in a few weeks and I see Honey's Handmade is acting a fool. She's going back on the do not buy list forever. Don't have time to play with her. I've sidelined all her products until winter. She needs to get her act together.

Hit: SM bright auburn hair color. My red hair is to die for. Definitely going to stick with this color for a while.

Hit: Daily cowashing and wet bunning. This is life. Shedding less than 10 hairs a day. Easy breezy styling. Less than 15 minutes to do my hair.

Always a hit: Garnier sleek n shine leave in cream. Bae. Forever and always. Soft moisturized hair and it makes my curls pop like crazy.

Hit: APB refresher spray gives me soft, moist hair.

Hit: APB customer service. Had an issue with my package and it was quickly resolved.

Hit: APB green powerhouse hair oil. Locks in moisture. Not to thick for my fine hair.

Not a hit or miss: APB simple hair creme and APB leave in. They're just ok. Nothing to write home about for me.
